Will this device help to enhance audio quality and recording capabilities for Skype video calls?

I think this Hi-Res DAC is able to provide the hardware portion of a respectable digital audio workstation (DAW), however, you still need a software package to complete the DAW. In fact, I think if you Google DAW you will be directed to several software packages.  You need a program that will allow live processing.  I suggest you first consider looking into a free and powerful program called Audacity. It may just be the ticket you’re looking for.

Does this work with headsets that use USB such as gaming headsets?

Likely it will not. The USB gaming headset has a built-in DAC that will allow you to connect it directly to the PC/MAC/console sources. Do you have the specific brand and model number so that we can check further? Thanks for your kind attention.

Question 3

Im a little confused about the optical line in/out. Do I have to use an optical line, or do they accept normal 3.5mm jacks?

To setup on a PC you simply connect the usb cable. If using PS4 you can use usb or optical. Xbox one must use optical. 3.5mm jacks on the front are for headphones and mic. If you use it with x Xbox one you will need a power adapter, which creative does not supply.

Would the G6 be a upgrade over the sound blaster z ?

Like most answers, it depends.

The G6 is portable.  If you have multiple consoles, or take your switch on the move, the G6 is better all around.

The G6 has a better DAC and better amp, but unless you are an audiophile with a great pair of headphones, you may not notice or care.

The G6 does 7.1 surround (virtualized, but it does a good job) while the Z only does 5.1.  Not a big deal either way, imo.  And if I'm not mistaken, I believe the Z uses CMS3D while the G6 uses the SBXPro Virtualization.  This is a preference thing.

The Z has DDL (Dobly Digital Live), the G6 does not.

Question 5

Can I output 5.1 surround sound (Dolby/DTS) via optical cable to an AV system? It will be connected to a PC using USB. The PC uses PowerDVD to play Bluray movies.

I don't think the G6 will output Dolby/DTS 5.1 via optical.  Instead, it will pass along the SBX virtualized 3D if I remember correctly.

DOES IT PLUG INTO A FREAKING WALL? IF COMPUTER CANT POWER 250 OHM HOW CAN SOUNBLASTER POWERED BY THE COMPUTER???

its powered by your computers usb port it drives my 250 ohm headphones just fine its whats often called a preamp for powering high impediance headphones but if you wish it will also alter the sound output  its a very nice product love mine
