Question 1

Anyone using this card with the optical in/out ports to a receiver with Windows 10 OS? Asking because I have a Z series SB that worked fine that way with Windows 7. But after a system UP and downloading Windows 10 SW from SB the analogue port works, But the optical out is toast. Want to know for sure that the optical out, at last, will work before I shell out for this card.

Yes. I have an AE-9 Soundblaster, NVidia RTX 2080 Ti, and Denon InCommand AVRX 2200 Receiver. I have a Toslink cable running from Audio out on the sound card to digital in on the receiver; I have an HDMI running from out on the video card to HDMI in on the receiver; and I have HDMI ARC running from the receiver to one of my monitors. I can get audio from either the toslink and sound card or from hdmi to video card. Both work fine without too much configuration. I keep the receiver set on Pure/Direct sound setting. Also, be sure to select one of the encoders in the Creative software or you won't hear any sound. FYI, the connection from the receiver to monitor is just for setting up and configuring the receiver using a screen rather than the LCD.

Which brand gaming  headset will be perfect ?

I use the Massdrop Sennheiser HD 58X - a budget version of the Sennheiser HD 580 Jubilee. Great dynamics, comfort, and a steal at about $150. Reference grade for music, but not too shabby for games and movies either. See drop[dot]com for details.

Question 3

Will a headset with 3.5mm connect to the 1.4" slot? I'm reading that 1.4" is an approximation and it's not clear to me whether it will work.

The breakout box has both 3.5mm and 1/4” connections.

Does it work without pci-E cable if I don't connect ACM???

It requires the PCI-E 6 pin power to be connected, regardless of if the ACM is connected or not.
