Is this item supposed to come with any software? Anything at all? I got mine today and it came in an opened anti static bag and nothing else...no box, no disk...nada.

Mine came in a static bag as well but it included a disc.

You can find drivers and software at sound blaster/creative's website, however (won't let me link to the driver page unfortunately).

Is this product compatable with windows 10?

Yes sir it is.  I installed it on a Windows 10 PC at my church because we were having issues with sound quality of recorded sermons.  Working like a charm.

Question 3

Looking desperately for a soundcard that is A) heavily Windows 7 compatible, and B) comparable to the Creative X-FI Titanium.  Is this card a good match for those criteria?

It's going to be a gift for my wife since she's using onboard sound and it's just horrifically bad.

This is an excellent card, but you need to make sure the mother board will hold the pcie interface for the card.  I just updated my board and had to get the new card for my board, which does not have a PCI interface, but either version coupled with the logitech  surround sound speaker system makes for excellent music and gamesd sounds.  Again, check for the plug in and if it fits it will work, be sure to disable the onboard sound when you have installed the card, by going into the bios setup of the computer.

Will this sound card work on Asus P8Z77-V board. Operating system Windows 10 ?

As long as that board supports the PCI Express Interface. If it's been built in the last few years I'm sure it does. Also it works best under Windows 10. I dual boot with Windows 7 ultimate x64 and Windows 10 Pro and it sounds the best under Windows 10.  It's a good board.

i see some complaints about win7 driver issues. how is it with win 8?8.1?

It was fine for the short time I had Windows 8 before installing 10 pro. Windows 8 and 10 seem to be nearly identical when it comes to drivers. However, I question the idea of ever buying anything from Creative again due to their unresponsiveness to all of the Windows 7 users when a problem developed.  In fact, they wouldn't respond. But that part is up to you. As far as Win8 goes, it did work okay on mine.

Will this card work in a PCI Express 3.0 x16 slot? Will ANY sound card that exists on the planet work in that slot or should I just go with a USB sound card?

I know it works in a 2.0 x 16 slot because that's what mine is. I'm sure the 3.0 is not a hardware change.  But you might want to consider another board anyway. I've always been a fan of  CL sound blaster products. But this one in Windows 7 x 64 is worse than an old transistor radio. Volume goes up and down rapidly so much that you can't hear anything from the low points. Works great in W 10 x64 but I have been fighting this ever since I bought it and many others too. This will work in the slot you need but again you might want to think this over first. Good luck

Is this card compatible with Windows XP ? I need to know as that is what we are running here.

Does the cd come with drivers for it?

I got a CD with the card that had drivers on it. However, I just looked at it and found nothing with XP. On the other hand, the setup program did all of that automatically.  
But maybe I can help in another way. This card is junk with Windows 7. It works very well with Windows 10 but when I boot to Windows 7 x64 the volume is very crappy and goes up and down so severely that it sounds like someone is turning a volume knob up and down. You might be better off to look at another manufacturer since CL has said there is nothing they can do about my problem.

Hey Joe,

This card is compatible with any PC with an open PCIe slot running Microsoft Windows 7+. Linux support is sadly lacking and has serious issues with sound capture and output. I suggest that you open your case and evaluate all open slots for PCIe x1. If there are no longer any available, a PCIe x8, or x16 slot may be used. Although x8 and x16 slots are quite a bit larger than the x1 slot, they're all compatible with x1 cards.

Question 10

Ok, so it's been a few months and I haven't bothered with trying to get the software because I've just been busy with other things and this wasn't high on the to do list. Now, I"m trying to find the software online and I don't see any downloads for SBX Pro Studio not even on the creative website. On top of that, I can't get sound from the card, my mic line in works but I can't hear anything coming out, I think this could be due to my own settings but I'm not sure. Anyone know anything?

Shon, I personally don't know the answer to your question, but if you do a copy and paste of your message that you posted here, and then open a support ticket on the Creative website, they might very well answer all your questions, perhaps give you a hot link that would point you to the software, and maybe even assign a tech to your case to help you resolve everything. I have found them very accomodating in the past! Good luck.
