Is the heatsink removable?

I used one of these for my desktop build and the motherboard had its own larger heat sink and thermal pads, so I removed the included heat sink. Four phillips head screws and some pulling later the heat sink did come off, and I just had to scrape away some of the leftover thermal pad. Please note this might void your warranty, but it's been my main hard drive for about three months now with no issues.
