Will this make strong coffee?

I think that the bold setting doesn't make any difference to the strength, which you could get with a $10 machine. I had used 5 tablespoons per 24 ounces of coffee with my ten-year-old Mr. Coffee machine, and I still use that same proportion with finding no taste difference. But, you can make milder coffee. I'd recommend this machine, if you're on the fence. Make sure that you seat the filter, however.
