Does this soft serve machine use regular soft serve bag mixes? Or is more for the types of recipes found in the back of the manual?

I've used pre mix bags as well as recipes from scratch. Both make an excellent ice cream. If you mean liquid soft serve bags, then no I haven't tried. The pre mix bags I've used are powder and you add milk. In theory it should all work.
