Is this item a new retailed item or a refurbishef item?

As far as I know it was new.  Never really stopped to check.   The unit works great!  Newegg has good cutomer support as far as returns go.  There was an abbreviated rebate issue with it but that's all I remember.  I believe if you web search that same question you may find a better answer to your question.

Question 2

Are you able to use the universal pods and add your own blend, or must you buy the prepackaged coffee?

The unit comes with the my-k cup adaptor, there is a door on the side where you can store it. The my k-cup allows you to add your own coffee grounds so you don't have to buy the actual prepackaged k-cups. You just have to take out the black piece that is already in the unit and replace it with the my k-cup adaptor.

This is not the chrome model unless you photos are wrong? You need to correct the listing to the silver model. The chrome one is more expensive.

I agree, the pictured item is the silver model.  The word chrome in the description is misleading.  I too was expecting the chrome model.  I was not happy with the silver vice the chrome but I really needed a good cup of coffee so I kept it.

Question 4

Is there a water temperature setting on this model. Mine is one day old and the coffee is luke ward?

there is not a temperature setting. you need to return/exchange your unit. a very common problem with many (most?) k-cup units is that the brew temp is far too low to produce a quality cup of coffee.  after unpacking everyone should put a thermometer into a cup and run a gallon of water through testing the temperature.  Coffee experts suggest the temp should be within a few degrees of boiling to produce the best taste.
