huge monitor - great quality
Pros: Very BRIGHT - very crisp picture Games look incredible, as well as photo editing in programs like Lightroom 5. Very quick to go in and out of power save mode. As soon as I lock my Win8 PC, the monitor goes into power save within 3 or 4 seconds. As soon as I tap a key, 1 second and monitor is alive.
Cons: Haven't come across any yet
Overall Review: I went from a 5 year old samsung 22" LCD to this. I knew I wanted a bit bigger screen, but this thing is monstrous in comparison! In hindsight a 24-26 would have done the trick, but hey it's here.
When it works - it works
Pros: Streaming movies from file share on network 'generally' works great. Smooth picture, great audio.
Cons: I have never in my life had so much trouble with file shares. One day this thing can watch movies and tv shows all day long from my HTPC downstairs, the next day it won't find the file share or it will try to say that the 'anonymous' login is incorrect. Permissions are all set up, and every other device in the household can access said file share perfectly. Aside from the network access woes, the GUI likes to freeze a lot - sometimes requiring me to pull the power.
Overall Review: Maybe I've just been a bit spoiled having a real HTPC in my living room, and thought this would be an 'easy' extension of that experience. This thing has been a royal pain in the rear and hardly worth the 99 bucks I got it for. Once I find a better alternative this thing will make for some good target practice.
Pros: This card is quite a powerhouse - handles anything you throw at it with ease. The massive fan assembly keeps this thing very cool as well. I don't think I've seen it above 50c with full usage.
Cons: The only con I can think of is the OC Guru software is very... cheesy? Outdated? Not sure what to call it. I've always been an EVGA customer and their Precision software is waaaay better.
Overall Review: I just ordered a second one of these to SLI them, should be set for a couple years I'm sure. One thing to note is the size of this thing, it's gigantic! It 'barely' fit into my Antec 900 case, and I had to slide out a hard drive cage to install. I was able to put the hard drive cage back afterwards, but it definitely wouldn't work if there was actually a drive in that cage.
Where's the last one?
Pros: Look really tasty, good candidates for omelettes.
Cons: Ordered 5, only got 4.
