Excellent investment

LITE-ON Black 12X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 12X DVD-RAM 8X BD-ROM 8MB Cache SATA 12X Blu-ray Burner with Blu-ray 3D feature IHBS112-29
LITE-ON Black 12X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 12X DVD-RAM 8X BD-ROM 8MB Cache SATA 12X Blu-ray Burner with Blu-ray 3D feature IHBS112-29

Pros: -Plays Blu-ray movie discs smoothly via the included PowerDVD 9 software (You need to download a ~100MB free update after installing from the disc for it to work properly). -FAST ripping speed for those looking to back up a Blu-ray movie to a video file or disc image. -Easy firmware upgrades with SmartPack utility (using newest firmware CL0K at the time of this review).

Cons: The only thing it can't do is LightScribe, but unless you are publishing software discs for resale or happen to have OCD about the aesthetics of your discs, who really needs it that badly.

Overall Review: Awesome drive, really hope it will last for a long time. If you really need LightScribe, there is an otherwise identical LITE-ON drive with that feature included for 30 dollars more.

Good cooler, however troublesome for certain mobos

ASUS Arctic Square 92mm Vapo Bearing CPU Cooler
ASUS Arctic Square 92mm Vapo Bearing CPU Cooler

Pros: -Durability -Good performance for 2 years and counting -Awesome shiny chrome look to it -Includes blue LEDs to give your case some more character in the dark

Cons: The part which attaches to the motherboard to lock the cooler into place is pretty wide and will not fit properly on some motherboards due to heatsinks for the northbridge.

Overall Review: It only fit sideways on my motherboard, so my arctic square blows air toward the top of the case rather than toward the back. This probably increases my temps a bit because my case's intake fans can't effectively blow into the intake side of this cooler.

Highest capacity, great price

SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive
SAMSUNG EcoGreen F4 ST2000DL004 2TB 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

Pros: I ordered this drive for storing my files and perhaps PC backups. I was lucky to have a friend point this drive out to me during a sale when they were offering $15 off. At $75 for 2TB It was hard to ask for more. Definitely not something you would want to install your operating system on, but for extra storage it is one of the best drives on newegg at the moment. Also included 4 screws for securing it to your HDD cage.

Cons: 5400 RPM makes transfer speeds a little slower than many users are accustomed to when using 7200 RPM drives. Still great capacity for a media server or storage though.

Overall Review: When I formatted this with the maximum sized NTFS partition, I was left with 1.81 TB of free drive space.

Great CPU

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - Core 2 Quad Yorkfield Quad-Core 2.83 GHz LGA 775 95W Desktop Processor - BX80569Q9550
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - Core 2 Quad Yorkfield Quad-Core 2.83 GHz LGA 775 95W Desktop Processor - BX80569Q9550

Pros: Got this CPU when it was still relatively new in spring 2009. I felt obligated to review it here because it's been so good to me. I've got it overclocked to 3.4 GHz, runs any game with my crossfired HD 4870's on high settings, also loads Photoshop CS5 in about 2 seconds. Still competes with the i5 and i7s as many other people have said, and to use those chips you'd be paying a lot more for the new socket mobos and DDR3 memory. I noticed the price is now 10 dollars higher than when I bought it, so I would only recommend this CPU if you have a dual core 775 socket system that needs some new life breathed into it.

Cons: My temps when playing high load games like Bad Company 2 or Aion can reach up to 75 C with an ASUS Arctic Square cooling it. I don't know if this is average for most users of this chip but the temps at idle are around 42 C.

Overall Review: Get an aftermarket CPU cooler and make sure it can face the rear of the case without your mobo's northbridge heatsink getting in the way. I had to face my CPU fan blowing toward the top exhaust fan in my case rather than the rear exhaust because of the way the motherboard was designed and this might contribute to my temps at 80% - 100% load being kind of high.

Awesome Performance

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 - Core 2 Quad Yorkfield Quad-Core 2.83 GHz LGA 775 95W Desktop Processor - BX80569Q9550

Pros: I purchased this processor at the end of April 09. I've been using it since the beginning of May and I've been extremely happy with it since then. I became even more satisfied when I took advantage of the overclocking feature on my ASUS motherboard and got it up to 3.4GHz rather than the stock 2.83 with only around a 5C temperature increase while idle. The ratio of the FSB to DRAM is 1:1 now rather than 5:6 before overclock. Very good CPU if you need to multitask while running a game or high usage program.

Cons: I can't really say if it is my case fans or CPU fan not doing an adequate job, but the CPU gets HOT when running demanding 3D games (50-65Celsius). This is during the summer though so I only hope in fall/winter the temps will drop a lot more. I am using a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4870 1GB video card on maxed settings, so I don't fully understand why the CPU still uses a lot of resources when the GPU should be taking the majority of the load.

Overall Review: Overall, I highly recommend this CPU, especially for how cheap it is now, considering 2 months ago I bought it for 60 dollars more, and that price was still great. Also, make sure your CPU cooler can fit the right way without conflicting with the northbridge heatsink, as my cooler had to be put on with the exhaust going to the top of the case rather than to the rear, which was still ok in my setup by having an exhaust case fan on the top.
