5 out of 5 eggs Card Reader Mount 01/23/2014

This review is from: VANTEC HDA-525P 3.5" to 5.25" Front Bay Converter Kit

Pros: -Clean look
-Opening is perfect size

Cons: -Sidemount openings are tough for big fingers

Other Thoughts: This thing worked great for mounting a card reader in one of the 5.25" slots. The black matched perfectly and the opening was the perfect size to give that clean look.

Pros: -Silent
-Plenty of room
-Great cable management
-SSD mounts on the motherboard tray are great
-Has Dust Filters on bottom

This case is great and was a good upgrade over my old antec. It was a pleasure to wire and the cable management definitely reduces temperature because it allows more air flow. I'm running 2x200mm fans at the front and 1x120mm fan at the bottom for intake, and 1x140mm fan at the rear for exhaust and the case is silent. I only hear it when my Video Card spins up but that's due to the video card being overclocked and having to have the fan spinning quite fast.

Cons: -Small Opening for Intake in the front.
-Bottom dust filters have a tendency to slide around when moving the case, sometimes falling out when carrying it. They simply aren't in tight enough.
-LEDs on rear can't be toggled on when computer is off
-Panels are quite difficult to remove, to the point I'm afraid of breaking them

I've had a bit of frustration with the dust filters, specifically the front one. It doesn't like to stay still, ever. Even just moving the case to plug in a new device in the back results in it sliding out of position, and the tracks don't extend the full length of the filter so it's easy to miss the rear stop and slide past it as gravity causes the filter to flop a bit.

Other Thoughts: I'm fairly certain my case was a return. It doesn't appear anyone has previously installed a computer into the case, but, the box arrived open with the Styrofoam mangled as if the case had been removed from the box previously. In addition the front panel on the case has damage. The top middle of this panel has a small split as if someone pulled the front panel off too harshly. In addition, one of the screw mounts that holds the top drive bay cover in place was broken, again as if someone had handled it too harshly. I would have pursued a return but I am using the top drive bay and the split is mostly hidden by the top panel (plus I got the case on sale) so I'm not too concerned about it. A bit annoying to order a 150$~ case and receive it damaged however.
