Great PC for the Price

Gateway Desktop PC DX4860-UB21P Intel Core i5-2300 8GB 1TB HDD Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
Gateway Desktop PC DX4860-UB21P Intel Core i5-2300 8GB 1TB HDD Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Pros: Great PC for the price. If you can get over the fact this is a refurbished PC it is a no-brainer to buy this if you’re in the market for a mid-range desktop. Fast Sandy Bridge Core i5. 1TB Hard Drive is nice; apparently the HDD price-spikes don’t bother the PC manufacturers :) Runs very quiet. Factory installed bloatware (anti-virus junk, DVD programs) were easy to remove.

Cons: New power-supply barely fit in the case, but for being a pre-built system that is to be expected. PCIe x16 slot is mounted very high on the motherboard. A nVidia 8800GT barely cleared the DIMM slots. If you choose to install a video card make sure you pay attention to the dimensions. I cannot unlock the bottom DIMM locks without removing the video card first. Had to add an intake fan in the front for proper air circulation. But again, this is a prebuilt system not designed for a large video card.

Overall Review: This is a great buy for an every-day family computer with an extra kick of power. Or if you have the know-how and have an extra video card or power supply laying around or are willing to spend an extra $150 on new ones this is a great buy for someone who wants to do a little bit more. Received within two business days of ordering with free shipping. +1 for newegg.

Most Critical Review

Multi-player is fun.

Battlefield 3 Limited Edition PC Game
Battlefield 3 Limited Edition PC Game

Pros: The game looks great, but is very very GPU dependent. If you don't have a good graphics card, you should consider upgrading. Optimized to run on quad-core CPUs. Love to see this. The mult-player in this game is great fun. I really enjoy the balance between vehicles and infantry. It's not like previous versions of the game where you'd run/walk 5 minutes only to get blown up instantly and have to re-spawn. Queue feature for full servers seems to work well. The squad-based game play is great. It's nice to be able join a server and be put on the same team and same squad as someone on my friends list without having to worry about it.

Cons: The single-player is terrible. The AI is non-existant. You can go behind enemies and shoot all around them and they will not respond until you're in front of them. Whatever, no one buys it for campaign mode. Simple features have been taken out, IE taking a screenshot in game, screenshot.render is still a command, they save to a folder, why can't I just bind a key? In game VOIP has been taken out, but is included in XBOX version. Seriously? Origin is junk. There's actually a statement in the EULA stating that they can/will give your information to third parties. Cool. EA Locked this game down, they basically want to make as much money as possible off of it. They control everything for it, no mods, no map packs, etc. I guess Dice forgot where they came from... Desert Combat for BF1942. If you want a map-pack or an update, you have to pay $15 for it down to the road. I remember when developers would offer updates to include vehicles, weapons, and maps for... free! Differen

Overall Review: I only gave it three eggs because I'm not a fan of where this game is going. There are thousands upon thousands of questions on EA's official website for BF3, and I have yet to see 1 official comment from EA. It's like they took our money and that's it. For them it is on to start making the new version of the game ready for next year, instead of updating the current and making it better for free. And they'll be sure to charge $60 for whatever "new" game they come out with next year. It was completely opposite with BF2 and Desert Combat. I remember when the Devs were personally on the forums with players asking questions about how to make the game better, what features were missing, etc. I'm glad I got it for half price!

Still going strong after 4 years!

APC BE750G Back-UPS 750 VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) (Replaced by BE850M2)
APC BE750G Back-UPS 750 VA 10-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) (Replaced by BE850M2)

Pros: I'm extremely satisified with this device! I Purchased it in 2010 to backup my Desktop PC and Cable Modem and it has been running continually since. I just recently added in my VOIP (Ooma) to the UPS. I did a test and I got about 20 minutes of backup time wtih my Desktop, Modem, and VOIP device. Not bad for 4 years of use!

Cons: The phone/FAX line surge protection doesn't seem to work with my Ooma Teleo VOIP device. I'm not sure if it is an issue wtih the UPS or the VOIP service. I'm not too concerned, unless my house takes a direct hit from lightning there is no way I can have a surge running through my internal phone lines. And if my house takes a direct strike of lightning I have bigger things to worry about!

Overall Review: Replacement batteries for this device are inexpensive and readily available. I was thinking after 4 years of use I would need to replace the battery but it looks like it is still going strong.

Can't be $170.

Toshiba 32C110U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black
Toshiba 32C110U 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV, Black

Pros: Arrived in original box, original packaging, original manual and even original remote. Free of any cosmetic defects. Picture as as good as you're going to get for 720P, nice and bright display as well.

Cons: Sound. The sound on this thing is complete garbage, and the only audi output is digital, this problem is easily solved with a cheap receiver and cheap speakers. I'm not lying when I say I have alarm clocks with better audio than this thing.

Overall Review: You can't beat the quality at this price, although they said this is a refurb, the only way I could tell is that it has a sticker labeled "Refurbished" on the back. It feels, looks, and even smells like a brand new TV. I wallmounted this in my basement bar, it only is used during sporting events. Perfect for what I need. Bought a Second One!

Gateway Desktop PC DX4860-UB21P Intel Core i5-2300 8GB 1TB HDD Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit

Pros: Same as before. Great little machine with a Core i5! Plenty of DDR3 RAM Plenty of storage space Runs Cool and Quiet

Cons: $40 more than what I purchased for last month, but still a great price! Power Supply needs to be replaced before any upgrading. HDD is on the slow side at 5400RPM, Windows Experience rated at 5.9 No Overclocking from the H67 Chipset. No way to disable on-board video from the BIOS

Overall Review: I bought one of these for myself last month and now one for a family member. Replaced the Power Supply and Video Card with a AMD HD 6850 with the same results as before. Another inexpensive and mid-range gaming PC for under $600 total. Shipping was fast again. Ordered Wednesday got it Friday + 1 for newegg! Windows Experience Index Rating Processor 7.1 Ram 7.7 Graphics 7.8 (AMD HD 6870) Hard Disk 5.9

Decent TV for the Price

HANNspree 42" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV
HANNspree 42" 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV

Pros: Cheap Sharp & Clear Picture Full HD 1080P 4.5MS 120HZ 4xHDMI, VGA/DSUB Decent Menu & Picture options

Cons: Audio is pretty bad, but usable if you have to. There are two separate signals sent/received for the on & off function from the remote to the TV. So if you program this with a universal remote you will only be able to turn it off with the Univ Remote. I'm not sure how they messed that up, just an annoyance that I have to keep track of the original TV remote and the Universal Remote for my other multimedia devices. Not as thin or as light as other similar TVs Can produce a pretty bad glare in the sun, but what $400 tv wouldn't? No eggs lost for these cons because the price for picture quality clearly outweighs them.

Overall Review: I bought this TV a year ago from a different retailer. I haven't had any problems with my unit. It works great, I actually ended up producing my own Samsung label to slap over the HannsPree label in the front. When we have company over every exclaims how Samsungs have the best picture , and they comment on how great my TV looks. Little do they know....
