EVGA SuperClocked w/ ACX Cooling 02G-P4-2774-KR G-SYNC Support GeForce GTX 770 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Video Card

Pros: Looks nice, stays cool, and runs very well.

Cons: No 'cons', but a bit of an issue that is completely my fault and not EVGA's/Nvidia's (See other thoughts).

Overall Review: I get a bit of whine, but I blame my PSU for it. If you can't decide whether to go with a HD7970 or this GTX 770, go with this one. This was one of the only times I have not used AMD, and it has been great so far. The speeds are similar, but the User Interfaces of Nvidia's software and GeForce experience are fantastic. I am tired of AMD's poorly created UI. My biggest complaint is that after I bought it, I decided I wanted to set up a WC loop. The problem is that this card has non-reference PCB and it is extremely hard to find a suitable water block. The ACX fan(s) are awesome, but I like the aesthetics of a WC loop. This incompatibility is my fault, and not a CON at all. If I had thought of WC earlier, I would have gone with a reference GTX 770.

Avoid it like the plague

ASUS ROG G750 Series G750JX-DB71 Gaming Laptop Intel Core i7 4700HQ (2.40GHz) 16GB Memory 1TB HDD 256GB SSD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770M 3GB GDDR5 17.3" Windows 8 64-Bit

Pros: Good Specs on paper. Runs notepad pretty well.

Cons: Mine had many problems out of the box: Faulty sound hardware, terrible backlight bleeding on all sides of the monitor, cd drive made a loud grinding sound, and the hard drive made clicking sounds. I sent it to Asus for repairs and when I got it back, all they had done is replace the monitor (which was in worse condition than before). I sent it back to Asus and again, only the monitor was swapped (Although it wasn't worse this time). I then sent it back a third time and they decided to send me a replacement REFURB model. So after buying this laptop brand new and dealing with incompetent support, I got a refurb model. This refurb model has a nice screen, but the drives were not in a RAID configuration and the sound hardware was still faulty (I ended up buying a USB dac to solve it). Now that I'm finally up and running I ran some benchmarks and played some games on it and I was shocked that I had gone through all this work and payed $2k for a laptop that was unable to play Dota 2 at medium settings. Most games are completely unplayable at any settings and the actual feel of the laptop inside of windows is slow to the point of being unusable. I ran it side by side with my windows 98 laptop and the windows 98 laptop would load the file structure faster and I wrote some quick programs (primarily just random number generation. Nothing so complex as to give the 98's pipeline the advantage) to stress the systems and the windows 98 laptop kept up with or beat this new, $2k laptop.

Overall Review: I've personally used Asus a lot in the past, My current monitor, tablet, and GPU are from Asus (I suppose my laptop is as well). I have to say, that I tried to give Asus a chance to make right on the product they sold me, and at the end of the day, I was $2k shorter and this laptop just sits under my bed now as I had to buy a different laptop (A $300 tablet that runs faster than this Asus laptop). I have since avoided Asus like the plague it is. Before getting the refurb, I tried talking to them about a refund and they told me that would not be an option. I work as a software engineer and I am in charge of all the hardware my company buys and my boss noticed that MSI's hardware is becoming predominantly what we use. I would love to give Asus a second chance, but they really goofed and don't care about the consumer enough to make it right and so I do not seeing myself purchasing from Asus again.

Great Monitor

Dell P2411H Black 24" 5ms Height,Swivel & Tilt Adjustable LED Backlight LCD Monitor w/USB Ports 250 cd/m2 1000:1

Pros: Very solid build quality Good color reproduction

Cons: None really. Some of the settings make the color look bad, but just don't choose those settings.

Fast, but not fast enough.

HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Upgrade Bundle Kit) SH103S3B/120G
HyperX 3K 2.5" 120GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) (Upgrade Bundle Kit) SH103S3B/120G

Pros: SSD, looks fantastic, came with a lot, nice USB encasement, relatively fast.

Cons: None really. My computer didn't recognize it in the USB right away, but a format solved that.

Overall Review: Alright look, it IS really fast, but after extensively benchmarking, I can say that I would probably recommend the Samsung 830 Pro instead. It depends on what you want. The Samsung is much faster, but this one looks a million times better. AS-SSD gives me the following scores: This SSD (Hyper-X): 300 Samsung 830: 574 Samsung 840: 1077 Higher is better, but looks are very important to me, and nothing tops this SSD in terms of those.

Don't get this product

G.SKILL FTB-3500C5-D Fans
G.SKILL FTB-3500C5-D Fans

Pros: None

Cons: I have tried a few of these and none of them worked. They were too loose on my motherboard and would fall off. I would not recommend getting this unless you are doing lots of OC and have a strategy to hold it down.

Good GPU

SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7970 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card 100351SR
SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7970 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Graphics Card 100351SR

Pros: - FAST - Good Memory

Cons: - Not a con, but it is a large card. It fit fine in NZXT Phantom full ATX case.

Overall Review: I have used Sapphire for all my AMD GPUs (5770, 7870, and now 7970). They make quality components.
