TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Quickly connects to router, stable connection, came with free cradle, strong signal at distances.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I live in an old house and the walls are thick but it still gets a strong connection two rooms away. Whether starting up the PC from a full shut down or from sleep, it connects before I can even start up Chrome. It's downloaded almost 3GB worth of files fine over the last week while downloading Windows 7 updates and other programs. Not one drop, not one lag.
Using an ASUS motherboard and have had the adapter plugged in directly to the motherboard, via the included USB extender as well as the TP-Link cradle and each gave the same stable performance. Windows (or Linux) version should be required when reviewing some products, as I have had problems with past TP-Link adapters on Windows XP but on Windows 7 it was flawless.
I also recommend downloading the drivers from their site and then only installing the drivers (through Device Manager and choosing a location on your computer), as I've also fared better on older Windows versions when doing it that way than using their utility.

ASUS F2A85-M PRO FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 day to 1 week

Pros: Wasn't dead, appealing color scheme, multiple USB 3.0 ports and video outputs.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I'm not putting this under con as it's more an issue of Windows (and I guess myself as the PC doesn't have a DVD drive). I figured I would share for anyone else who might happen upon my scenario.
During installation of Windows 7 via a USB stick, the installation would have an error reading the USB. Turns out unplugging it and then choosing to continue with the install and then plugging the stick back in fixed the issue.
Also with Windows 7, the correct drivers for the USB 3.0 ports had to be manually downloaded from the ASUS site as a 1GB chipset driver set (I assume they were on the disk, but being Micro ATX many might also not be using a DVD drive).

Once that all was done, everything on the board worked and ran smoothly.

Rest of specs:
Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB 1600Mhz
AMD A8-5600k
