Pros: This CPU is basically everything you need in order to build a PC that runs almost everything you throw at it. And aside from some people who may have had issues, i've noticed none thus far. Highly recommended, combined with asus GTX-460 max settings on games such as skyrim at 1920x1080 (casual gamer here) with a secondary monitor running 1440x900.
Cons: hmmm... i was afraid of static? er... none.
Overall Review: People who come on here ranting and raving about how the other manufacturer is better need to get a clue. No one really cares. Current system: this processor asus mobo 2x2 gb & 4gb ram (total 8 GB) clock 1600 lian li pck58w with 3x 140mm fans and 1x 120mm green l.e.d. (lol, r.icer rig) corsair tx-650 psu asus gtx-460 all stock clock and runs admirably.
wowzah!
Pros: CPU stays cooler! if your not completely idiotic, it spreads okay. yep.
Cons: dang this stuff is sticky! i accidentally put the HS on wrong, what a mistake! took me TEN MINUTES to carefully pry the HS back off. also, it tends to goop up and stretch, such as one reviewer said, "like pizza cheese!" hasnt fully set yet, but yeah.
Overall Review: didnt buy mine on newegg, and it hasnt fully set, but even though it hasnt, its still running cooler than the CHALK that was spread stock on the CPU. horrible, gateway, horrible stock thermal paste. also, apparently the word h.o.l.y. and the word c.r.a.p. are not allowed here, nor is r.e.t.a.r.d.e.d. wheres my freedom of speech?
It's a mouse, forever.
Pros: over 2 years later, EVERYTHING works on it. it's an awesome mouse for daily and casual gaming. It's comfortable
Cons: Those rubber side pieces get lots of skin trapped in them. If the wheel started to jam a little. I guess there was a logo at one point on the back of the mouse, not anymore. Sometimes, you have to wipe the feet off or it might get stuck and kind of choppy. These are minor gripes for a sub-$20 mouse that works for over two years.
Overall Review: If you get grime in it, clean it with a straightened paperclip. If the wheel starts to stick/not spin properly, unstick it with a straightened paperclip. If it starts to stick to the table or not slide properly, try cleaning the bottom with a damp rag. Seriously, i've never seen a mouse work so well for so long under such heavy abuse (4 hours or more per day, sometimes gaming. Also, I get angry quite readily, if you catch my drift). Couldn't recommend this little fella' enough. if/when I make my next PC, i'm going to go ahead and order another one so that this one can rest. But for now, back to work.
Darned great PSU
Pros: Never had an issue with it. Quiet.
Cons: Cons, with this? No such thing.
Overall Review: This little guy has been running for over 2 years of daily use at more than 4 hours at a time (in fact, it's still my main unit in my PC from 2 years ago). It's a little trooper, and i've never had a single issue. Really hoping I'll bring it into my next build, most likely I will.
Big, Big, And still bigger than you think.
Pros: Huge. Don't underestimate this size, seriously. It's REALLY tall. Lots of fan room. Dark color so it can hide in the corner and murder you when you fall asleep at the PC. Lots of ventilation, bring some canned air. My processor and GPU have never risen above 110 degrees Fahrenheit with this setup. Not only that, but it's idle and light use are colder than I am, even in the summer heat.
Cons: If you got the one with the plastic, it scratches frustratingly quickly if your not careful. They ran out of the little rubber bits to hold the top fans in place. Had to make do with some jerry-rigging. Lots of ventilation, bring some canned air.
Overall Review: When I say it's big, I mean it. Sure, there may be things out there that are bigger than this now, but when it was out, it was a beastly thing. And if your wondering why I put "Lots of ventilation" as both pro and con, it's because dust and hair WILL find itself a home in it, and it might become a problem.
Asus, you've done good.
Pros: It was cheap when I bought it. It still runs modern games at medium-high settings. It looks gorgeous.
Cons: Still hasn't turned into a robot friend.
Overall Review: I was no means rich, and i'm definitely not rich today, but this little card is a heavy hauler when it comes to the field of budget GPU's. If someone has one for sale, especially the 1gb model, get it, get it as fast as you can. You'd be doing yourself a budget PC dis-service by not buying that card.
