MSI Notebook - NVIDIA Optimus increases battery life & performance Intel Core i5-2410M 6GB Memory 640GB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M 17.3" Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit FX720-001US

Pros: Try finding this much hardware for this cheap somewhere else - you can't. When I was looking two months ago, this was the best deal out there. Based on previous reviews, I didn't bother using this laptop as is out of the box. I upgraded to a 500GB 7200RPM HD, 8 GB RAM, and replaced the wifi card with a N/bluetooth card. It runs fast, cool, and I have never had a blue screen or any other problems. -Great as a desktop replacement -Screen is quality and bright -speakers are pretty good compared to most laptops -USB 3.0 is nice -no over-heating issues -video card is more than adequate for most - I am not much of a gamer -keyboard has nice feel -battery life has been superb - been averaging 3-4 hours with the video card turned off and display on max

Cons: Wifi chip sucks - replace it for $10-20; I recommend the Broadcom BCM4313. Needs a format and reinstall of Windows but that is any pc you buy now-a-days. The exterior is nice and pretty scratch-proof, but annoyingly shows fingerprints. Touchpad takes a little getting used to, but has grown on me - requires two fingers for scrolling. Also, the single bar style mouse buttons takes some getting used to. No manual eject button on th cd-rom could be a problem in the future.

Overall Review: Don't buy this computer or any other MSI unless you know something about computers. MSI makes great hardware and components; I would not expect any customer service from them. For me, I prefer more hardware for the buck then being able to call an operator and have them talk me through re-installing windows when there is a problem. I expect this laptop to last me a while, but I would have no problem buying another MSI, as long as I read the reviews first and new what parts I needed to replace.

Best Headphone to Price Ration I have Found

MEElectronics Black 3.5mm Headset w/Attached Hi-Fi Sound-Isolating In-Ear Headphones with Microphone for Apple Devices and Cell Phones (M9P-BK)
MEElectronics Black 3.5mm Headset w/Attached Hi-Fi Sound-Isolating In-Ear Headphones with Microphone for Apple Devices and Cell Phones (M9P-BK)

Pros: I went through two pairs of these (M9P-BK) in about a year and a half - used them at the gym almost every day, long airplane trips, and to help w sleeping in noisy environments (military). Great sound, good noise-canceling, durable. I recommend letting them play over night for a night or two to burn in the speaker drivers...

Cons: The cord is too long. Using the the carry pouch causes the wires to become permanently curled over time which is annoying when using and eventually leads to the wire snapping at the button connection. I have had intermittent problems with button going crazy with excess sweat - always goes away after drying.

Overall Review: One broke yesterday with the before-mentioned cord issue, the other broke in an airplane armrest (my fault). I am buying another pair right now - best headphone to price ratio I have ever found.
