5 out of 5 eggs Great drive in MBP 01/26/2011

This review is from: Intel X25-E SSDSA2SH064G101 2.5" 64GB SATA II SLC Enterprise Solid State Disk

Pros: Start up, shut down, sleep, and wake times are negligible.

Applications: open and close in seconds, compression and extraction, encoding; everything rips with this drive.

Battery life: not significantly longer but I imagine it must be somewhat longer due to the decreased power-draw

Heat & Noise: drive generates much less heat and noise than a conventional spinning disk

Data security: SLC means I probably will replace the drive before it fails. Dropping my laptop (I'm clumsy) doesn't result in a fear of data loss.

Cons: It's small! 64GB is simply not enough for everything. No worries, though. I replaced my SuperDrive with a 750GB data drive.

Price, obviously.

I got this drive for a bargain price -- I would have never purchased it for a personal laptop otherwise. I bought my girlfriend a WD SSD for about $200 and it performs very nicely, too.

This drive is better suited in RAID driving some seriously heavy database.
