It works

VANTEC 4-Port SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCIe Host Card w/ Internal 20-Pin Connector Model UGT-PC345
VANTEC 4-Port SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCIe Host Card w/ Internal 20-Pin Connector Model UGT-PC345

Pros: It worked out the box with Linux (fedora 20) 3.13.6-200; no extra drivers required.

Cons: Would be nice if it had more USB3 ports.

Overall Review: Would have been nice to have more ports, especially internal. I purchased this specifically because it has a 20 pin connector. I connected this to Thermaltake AC0031 USB 3.0 Support MS Slot, CF Slot, SD Slot,Extreme Slot, Micro SD Slot, M2 Port Multi-Card Reader (see http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820153002) and it just worked. Boy was it fast. I also connected to an external USB3 hard drive for testing, and that was fast as well. I would buy this again with no hesitation.

Most Critical Review

Cheap Plastic

StarTech BRACKETFDBK 3.5in Hard Drive to 5.25in Front Bay Bracket Adapter
StarTech BRACKETFDBK 3.5in Hard Drive to 5.25in Front Bay Bracket Adapter

Pros: Inexpensive, it works

Cons: Thick plastic so the standard drive screws were not long enough to use. Luckily, I had some longer ones.

Overall Review: You do not use standard screws to mount, you need to use a screw closer to a wood screw (pointy end to go into the plastic). Luckily, they include these screws. In retrospect, I should have purchased something made of metal because the plastic is an insulator so that heat can not be conducted away from a drive.

Fast

Thermaltake AC0031 USB 3.0 Support MS Slot, CF Slot, SD Slot,Extreme Slot, Micro SD Slot, M2 Port Multi-Card Reader
Thermaltake AC0031 USB 3.0 Support MS Slot, CF Slot, SD Slot,Extreme Slot, Micro SD Slot, M2 Port Multi-Card Reader

Pros: It works, and is fast.

Cons: Requires one 20 pin internal connection and one connection that runs outside the case. I would have preferred if it had plug-in connectors on the back of the reader and cables / adapters to use use internal or external ports. For me, it was the best solution as provided, but...

Overall Review: I tested a few different types of cards and USB devices and they all work just fine. It seems that most of my USB keys have status lights such that when I plug them in, the status light is facing down and I can not see it. This reader continues that trend. My solution was to mount the card reader upside down so that I can read my status lights since I do that often. I had no problem reading any card that I dropped into this device, and, it was pretty fast. I am very happy at the moment with this device. I hope that it has good longevity.

Overall Review: What can I say? I needed an adapter for my USB3 card, ant it worked like a charm.

Quite and easy to use

Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports
Cooler Master HAF X - High Air Flow Full Tower Computer Case with Windowed Side Panel and USB 3.0 Ports

Pros: Case is very quite and easy to use. I have built many computers using other cases, but this case has provided the cleanest looking case because of the excellent cable routing features. It was nice to add hard drives and DVD drives without using screws. The drives go in and come out very easily; I am very impressed. So, from an assembly perspective, this is the best case I have used. There is a cheat chart on the case below where the motherboard mounts that indicates where the stand-offs need to go, a nice touch. I like the variety of front case connections. One reason for choosing this case was the inclusion of a front panel firewire connector (since my video camera uses firewire). The large fans are very quite. They rotate more slowly and move more air. This may trigger a few warnings from the motherboard if it expects your fans to always be spinning fast, so you may need to jump into the BIOS and change the warning levels.

Cons: Heavy.

Overall Review: I did not find the status LEDs as bright as on other cases. I am not sure if this is a pro (less annoying when it is dark) or bad (is the power on or off). You can add more fans (for example, a second fan in the top that blows up). It would be nice if is were included, but, for my setup, I clearly do not need the second fan, so difficult to complain. I have a few "nice" older cases sitting around, and I purchased this for a new build because I wanted front panel USB3 and the easier drive mounting. I needed to install drive rails with my other cases, this is much nicer, just slide it in and it snaps in place; nice!

Lot of monitor for the money

SAMSUNG ToC T240HD Rose-Black 24" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10000:1 Built in DTV Tuner & Dolby Digital Surround Speakers
SAMSUNG ToC T240HD Rose-Black 24" 5ms HDMI Widescreen HDTV Monitor 300 cd/m2 DC 10000:1 Built in DTV Tuner & Dolby Digital Surround Speakers

Pros: Supports full 1080P (full high-def video), has multiple inputs (including HDMI), built-in tuner, includes speakers. I was able to adjust the brightness and contrast to obtain a decent range of visible white and black levels. My Nephew loves his T240HD, which connects to the computer and also his PS/3. His primary usage is gaming and he is very happy with it.

Cons: The Monitor stand is sufficient but not wonderful. This is not a high-gamma monitor, but at the cost, that is difficult to complain about.

Overall Review: I also own the Samsung 214T (old) and 245T, both of which I consider significantly better monitors. Why do I prefer these other Monitors? They are high-gamma, which means that they show MORE colors. They are also more uniform. They also cost a lot more. Unfortunately, NewEgg no longer carries the 245T (probably because the cost limited sales). In retrospect, I wish I had spent the extra money on the nicer monitor. I have a 245T attached to another computer and it is obvious when I use the T240HD. A personal preference that I do not like that you may consider a plus: All buttons but power are on the side. This makes using the menu much more difficult and less accessible with my setup). I also do not trust the "touch" power button, which I think is not really a button.
