MSI Radeon R9 270X DirectX 11.2 R9 270X GAMING 2G 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

Pros: Good unit, no hardware issues. Runs games fairly well. I upgraded from a 4850, and I definitely notice a difference.

Cons: But, I didn't notice a huge difference in smooth gameplay.

I saw another user say that they can run games like SWTOR at max on this card. That user is running Crossfire. This card cannot handle most MMORPGs on maximum settings without taking hits to FPS. This card has some issues even running more advanced anti-aliasing.

It's a big card.

Other Thoughts: This is a decent upgrade. I am not sure that it is worth it. For $200, I guess it is priced decently. I don't regret my purchase. But, I was a bit disappointed. I am not into spending lots of money on my computer upgrades. I thought this would be a huge jump - from high end Radeon 4000 series to high end Radeon 7000 series (R9 270X is basically a tweaked 78XX chip, from what I understand). It is definitely better, but didn't blow me away.

Belkin F3U151B06 6 ft. Black USB Cable

4 out of 5 eggs Lasted longer than others 01/07/2013

This review is from: Belkin F3U151B06 6 ft. Black USB Cable

Pros: This cable was relatively durable and lasted from 4/2012 to 1/2013. I have another one that is still working. In my experience, that is pretty durable for a micro USB cable. Most others break after 3 months of regular use.

Cons: One broke before a year's worth of use.

Other Thoughts: Seems like these should last longer, but I think that this is an issue with the micro USB standard, not with Belkin.

Pioneer VSX-1022-K 7.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver

4 out of 5 eggs Not bad 10/30/2012

This review is from: Pioneer VSX-1022-K 7.1-Channel 3D Ready A/V Receiver

Pros: Great features, good sound quality, no problems with video.

Cons: No wireless, difficult to figure out how to set it up. Slow acquisition of HDMI signals. Remote is not backlit.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you use MCACC setup to start her going. Those who have complained about "tinny" audio or lack of bass: either your speakers are weak or you didn't set the speakers up correctly. This receiver has an internal active crossover that filters at 100 kHz to the sub or "large" speakers. If you have no sub and no "large" speakers, you will not hear (or hear very little) bass. You need to (1) set the active crossover lower (I have mine at 80, and thinking 50 is better) and (2) set your bass-capable speakers to be "large" speakers in the manual setup. Further, if you have no sub (I do not, my fronts have 12" woofers), you have to make sure that the sub is turned off in the manual setup. Also, make sure no channels are turned on that you are not using.
