MSI GeForce GT 730 DirectX 12 N730K-1GD5LP/OC 1GB 64-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready Low Profile Video Card

Pros: This card fit beautifully in my Dell Optiplex 780 slimline case with even a little room to spare.
It came with the optional rear plate in case you have a slimline case which eliminates the VGA port.
You can't beat this card to fit in an older refurbished computer for fifty bucks.
Uses Dual Link DVI-D and HDMI. And VGA in case you need that too, but only for a normal sized case. (My monitor uses DVI-D)

Cons: No cons. Killer card.

Other Thoughts: I would highly recommend this card if you are in a situation like mine. I actually bought the card for my wife's computer. She won't be doing any gaming but if she did, it would basically do ok none-the-less.
Went to a 7.1 on the WEI for gaming graphics.
Not an issue downloading current drivers from NVidia website. Wouldn't bother with the CD. especially on an older card.
The dimensions of this card are 5.55" long x 2.72" tall x .75" thick (that is the total thickness including the fan shroud)

Note: In the question and answer section some users mentioned the thickness as being 1-1/4 and 1-5/16. I don't know where they came up with those dimensions. I wish they hadn't given those inaccurate dimensions because it gave me a lot of doubt about buying this card. Thankfully, it all worked out for me. Otherwise, I would have been doing a lot of modding to make things work.

I couldn't ask for a better hookup.

Dell Optiplex 755 Tower - 2.3GHz Intel Core2 Duo, 4GB Memory, Windows 7 Home Premium (1 Year Warranty)

Pros: See Other thoughts.

Cons: See Other thoughts.

Other Thoughts: To be honest, Front Source Tech is a company I would never use again. I bought this Refurbished Dell Optiplex 755 for a customer of mine since she needed to upgrade from an XP machine. First problem was they were 2 weeks out on the delivery when they specified only one week. Secondly, when I finally received the unit and got it fired up I discovered that the DVD burner was defective and did not work at all. Also, it only came with one stick of 1GB ram when the order specifically stated 4GB. Windows 7, even with a duo core processor, is not going to run very well on 1GB ram. I guess FST figured they would take a chance and hope the customer wasn’t computer savvy enough to check all that out.

Because I had received the unit late on a Friday afternoon I could not contact Front Source Tech until Monday due to the time difference of me living on the west coast and them being on the east coast. Lost 2 more days because of that. Called Monday morning and they were agreeable to send me a different DVD drive and the allotted 4 gigs of ram. Had to wait another week for those parts. Meanwhile, I have an unhappy customer waiting 3 wks now for her computer.

Since I had already been burned for the DVD drive and ram I was wise enough to send away for a DVD burner (brand new this time) from Newegg figuring that if the burner they sent was bad I would have a backup drive ready to go. If the burner was good then I would have a spare for my inventory. I also sent away for 2 sticks of used 1GB ram from a company whose name ends in bay. This, of course, was just in case the ram from FST was also defective. That also proved to be a good move because, sure enough, the ram they sent me was defective. Now what do I do?..... call FST and have them send me more (possibly defective) ram? Not even worth my time.

This was a lesson to be learned. I highly recommend that you do not buy anything from this company. You will wait for weeks and end up with a defective product. If you do buy a refurbished unit, make sure it comes from another refurbishing company that Newegg uses called Blair Technology Group. I bought a computer from them (via Newegg) and had no problems.

ASUS GRYPHON Z87 LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 uATX Intel Motherboard
  • Verified Owner
  • neweggOwned For: 1 week to 1 month

Pros: UEFI BIOS-able to use a mouse. Nice GUI
Military grade? TUF components. (Hopefully true)
3- 4 pin chassis fan headers laid out on the edge on 3 different sides.
1- 4 pin CPU OPT header
1-4 pin ASST fan header
I/O shield easy install.
BIOS flashback utility
4-Rear 3.0 USB ports
Header for 2-front 3.0 USB
Angled SATA ports makes it easy for good cable management
Nice board for gaming
ASUS brand

Cons: Not really a con but not crazy about the light brown/brown color scheme. And with all the mods in today’s world, it would be nice if we could choose any color scheme for any board. Maybe someday. I suppose you could just buy the optional armor kit and paint that. Idk

Other Thoughts: My first board was an A7N8X bought in 2003 at Newegg. This board is still running, and for the most part used, in a printer server computer in my first build of that same year. That lifespan alone for a motherboard is good enough for me to keep using ASUS. 11 years and still kicking. What can I say?

A big plus for me on this board was the 3 chassis 4-pin fan headers. I have a 3 pairs of fans so I was able to take advantage of those headers without a fan controller. Computer fired right up the first time, recognized cpu, ram, and reported cpu temps and fan speeds immediately. Since I was using a Laing D5 Vario pump with the speed control lead plugged into the CPU fan header, that too was reported immediately and accurately. Sure, every mb is going to have advantages and disadvantages, but honestly, the positives far outweigh the negatives.

btw- this business of the board feeling flexible? Felt to me lke any board I've ever worked on. It is perfectly fine. It is bound to feel flexible to a certain degree.
