SeaSonic SSR-650RM 650W Power Supply
Pros: Amazing value from a very reputable manufacturer. Unexpected features at this price point including excellent protection and cooling, semi modular design, and most impressively, an 80+ gold efficiency rating. Haswell processor support. Very sturdy construction. Extremely quiet operation. I had to double check that the fan was actually spinning. I couldn't hear it at all. I still can't. And it's right next to me.
Cons: The CPU cable was a tight reach for my NZXT Phantom 410 mid tower case. It will reach, but, you'll have to spend some time working out the kinks and loosening it up. I'm very particular about cable management. So, this is a rather moot point. It's not a big deal. With all the features this unit offers, it's very easily overlooked. After all, it still reached!
Overall Review: I've done a lot of research on PSU's. SeaSonic is one of the top brands out there. Ask anyone who takes PC building seriously and they'll agree that SeaSonic is a solid and trustworthy name to be powering your sensitive components.
Dead after one week
Pros: Price Lighting
Cons: Keystrokes feel cheap Space bar requires more force than other keys causing you to miss spaces frequently while typing. fn key is oddly located and doesn't accommodate single hand audio control. Enter key is small and takes some getting used to.
Overall Review: The keyboard died after just over one week. It was working fine until one evening I shut off the computer before bed. When I turned it on the following day, the keyboard was completely dead. No lights, no response, nothing. The sole reason for buying this was to hold me over until my preferred keyboard was being repaired. It failed. It isn't worth it to send it back. the cost to ship it back is near the amount of the product. Good thing it was cheap.
Great price! Good performance!!
Overall Review: Awesome for the price. A decent upgrade from an old R9 280. 3DMark score went up by over 1100 from the R9 280.
Intel Core i5-4670K Haswell 3.4GHz LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics BX80646I54670K
Pros: It's an Intel i5 4670K. It's awesome.
Cons: Should upgrade your power supply if your current model is not Haswell ready or certified.
NZXT Phantom 410 Black ATX Mid Tower Case
Pros: Excellent cooling with room for up to 8 fans. The 3 fans included with the case are very quiet and move plenty of air. The top 140mm fan has blue LED's and adds a very classy look. The overall design is well thought out and looks incredible. Very sleek and sexy. The functionality combined with its impeccable aesthetics and very reasonable price make it a perfect choice. Expansion capabilities are to be expected, but make no mistake, this baby is big. She's almost the size of a full tower. Lots of drive trays, ample room for custom cooling set ups, and with the removable drive bay removed, enough clearance to comfortably fit the most gargantuan GPU on the market. The cable management is top notch. Okay, the rubber grommets are a little flimsy and pop out of the slots easily, but this is easily countered by using one hand to hold the grommet as the other hand feeds the cable through. No problem. It was a breeze to work with and this was my first PC build. The no tool design is is easy to work with and still very secure. Be prepared to use a phillips head screw driver to loosen the bolts for the first time. They come relatively tight from the factory. The stand off screws come with a small adapter that makes them very easy to install correctly and securely. A very nice touch. The front panel USB ports are great for most needs and the 3 speed fan controller is a nice functional bonus.
Cons: As stated previously, the rubber grommets surrounding the cable management ports. Not a problem at all. Still very easy to work with. Not even a con. No eggs will be removed for this in any way. This is a 5 egg case through and through.
Overall Review: The perfect mix of extravagant style, classy refinement, and intuitive functionality.
