5 out of 5 eggs Fixing previous bad review 03/27/2016

This review is from: ASUS 970 PRO GAMING/AURA AM3+ AMD 970 + SB 950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: -stable
-fast with quad-core 4.2 GHz FX CPU
-Really looks cool
-good bang for the buck
-seem well made
-easy setup

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I had previously written a bad review talking about a problem with a sound card conflict with the graphics card. Turned out it was a driver issue with the ASUS R7 370. I was going to AMD's site and getting the drivers. I guess the newer drivers have bugs and I found that the older Catalyst software works flawlessly. The Crimson software keeps locking up on YouTube and other similar video sites. Once I found this out, this motherboard has worked flawlessly. This build is the system I've been dreaming about.

Cons: I built two systems for Christmas. I had actually started one and bought the parts and switched them back and forth between the one that was mine and the one that was a gift. This processor along with memory for my build and a graphic card for my sons build were the last three items I bought for the basic system. Everything seemed to work great at first and a week later my system kept getting error codes. I tried doing a reboot and it started doing codes while I was trying to reinstall windows. I figured it was the motherboard. I got a new motherboard and it seemed OK. I got an R9 390 graphic card and it started acting up rebooting, shutting down, error codes so I took it back to the box store I got it from and got a R7 370 from ASUS. I also added two more 120 GB SSD drives to my RAID array on my boot drive moved the media drives to external cases and at first, all was good for a few days. I then started having error codes or crash on startup. I had just changed the hard drives and figured that was the problem. So fooled around with them and it stopped so I thought all was good. I went to bed last night, everything had been working good all day, get up today turn the computer on and crash after crash. It would sometimes open then freeze or crash. When it gave a reason they varied from Critical Process Died to various others. The only thing I hadn't changed while this was going on was the CPU. I just took the 3.8 GHz CPU out of my son's computer and put in this one and so far it is working fine. Too late to return to New Egg as it was bought back in December so I am out of $90. This is the first time in over 18 years I have ever had a problem with an AMD processor. That was why they were my brand of choice. They have always been durable, reliable and best bang for the buck. Very sad to see that streak come to an end.

Other Thoughts: It was fast when it worked but I will either be buying the 3.8 like my son's or a 6 or 8 core to replace this.

Pros: Seems fast will update once I get all updates and my system setup. After I posted my other review my wife and on wentout toa friends house. I came back home and everything came together in my mind and it all seemed to fall into place.

Cons: Still deducting 2 eggs because there was nothing included except for the drive really, no direction, nothing. Two times my BIOS changed without reason to original settings but now that I formatted my old drive it seems to be behaving better.

Other Thoughts: Found drivers online, just download and uncompress them to a flash drive. Got the drive turned on in my BIOS and installed driver during windows installation. Everything seems fast. I had to take out one of my video cards in order to have a 4x PCIe but it mat be worth it. Not sure I ever needed the crossfire to begin with, really noticed little difference with being in 1080p
