Pleasantly Surprised!

Pros: Imaging, small size, effectively replaces 5 boxes with 2, beautiful finish (with wife approval) and attractive stands, shockingly low price on sale, easy setup, great dynamic range
Cons: Shiny surface shows fingerprints, limited bass response (esp. around 100-150 Hz) , basic instruction manual doesn't explain best placement, surround effects don't/can't reach back & far sides of room, combined connection cables may limit some setup configurations, small gauge wires
Overall Review: I was fully prepared to dislike these cute little boxes. However, I was pleasantly surprised! First, thanks to KEF's Uni-Q drivers, imaging is razor sharp. While I still use my Martin Logan electrostatics for serious stereo listening, these little gems effectively eliminate the need for a center channel and side 'surrounds.' (I still use rears for effective 7.1 setup, however.) I recommend setting up with a tight, accurate powered subwoofer, and letting these speakers 'break in' for a couple of days. Then, be prepared for enjoyable theater sound with minimal fuss, reduced hardware & wife approval! By the way, I highly recommend spacing these speakers fairly wide apart & aiming the primary drivers directly at the listening position. This allows for the best phantom center effect, and allows the surround to be essentially inaudible directly - heard only by reflection from the room's boundaries. Conclusion: if they're on sale (and you want lovely theater sound with minimum fuss), buy 'em!
