Great for Netflix

Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player (H2G2-42)
Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player (H2G2-42)

Pros: Great for Netflix. Easy to setup. Simple enough to use for elderly parents. Cheap, small, looks cool. Keeps settings when unplugged.

Cons: Slow, often hangs...but can be easily be reset. Gets very hot. Does not support new AC technology. Does not (yet) show pictures or videos from my Google drive account. Limited app support. Only does 1 thing...stream (but I guess that is why you are buying it for). Requires Google account and internet access (unlike other media streamers).

Overall Review: The price fluctuates between $28 and $36 depending on retailer.

Bad antenna

NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band Wi-Fi Router, Gigabit Router, Open Source Support, Circle with Smart Parental Controls, Compatible with Amazon Alexa (R7000)
NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1900 Dual Band Wi-Fi Router, Gigabit Router, Open Source Support, Circle with Smart Parental Controls, Compatible with Amazon Alexa (R7000)

Pros: - Stable, fast, and looks cool. - LEDs can be turned off in the advanced settings. - guest mode seems cool if you use this for a business.

Cons: - Has the same range as my 10 year old cheepo router that I got from Newegg. - Huge footprint if you don't mount it on the wall. - Costs 5-10x entry-level routers...and performs similarly. - Defective out of the box (NEW...not refurbished; bad QC)

Overall Review: I bought this router to replace/upgrade an unstable 10 year old Rosewill N router that has had it's fair share of use. From the reviews online, I thought this was the de-facto best router that you can currently buy...hah, nope, mines was defective...RMA'd. I really had high expectations for the new AC technology and was hopping for better coverage around my home and of course the faster speeds. However, I think I received a device with bad antennae because the 4G (a/b/g/n) works fine, just like my old router, but the the 5G (ac) which I set up to be a different SSID had horrible range. I only could get 1 bar in the next room (and the 4G had full bars). Sure it was fast, but what good is speed that doesn't reach to where you need it. So now, I am going back to the old N technology...its cheaper and seems to be more reliable anyway, with just as good (if not better) coverage...and N speeds are acceptable to 99% of most users anyway. I am sure that my experience is not typical for this router...but If I am going to spend $189, then I would expect leaps and bounds better than this...especially when what I can get with just a regular $20 router is on par, if not better. I am so disappointed, and ashamed that I made such a hype about this router to my family. It seems that Netgear quality control is not doing their job. Thank goodness I have shoprunner and can return anything I buy from Newegg for free.

Sooo slow

SAMSUNG D3 Station 4TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive STSHX-D401TDB Black
SAMSUNG D3 Station 4TB USB 3.0 3.5" Desktop External Hard Drive STSHX-D401TDB Black

Pros: Cheap, looks nice, Samsung brand, 3 year warranty

Cons: Painfully slow - Using this in my 3.0 USB port, this thing only gets 33.8MB/s write speeds. I have a Hitachi 3TB External HD that is 3 years old that is 10 times as fast at backing up the same data.

Overall Review: I only have owned this drive for a week, and have since only did a full format on it (that took all night and day, 12+ hours)...So I am not sure if I got a lemon yet. Will update if anything happens, but so far, not very happy with my purchase.

Was going to buy yesterday at $99

HP 20" 60 Hz IPS LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 7 ms D-Sub, DVI Pavilion 20xi
HP 20" 60 Hz IPS LCD Monitor, IPS Panel 7 ms D-Sub, DVI Pavilion 20xi

Pros: Modern looking, new IPS monitor from HP.

Cons: I was all set to buy this at Newegg and then the price changed. Now it is $20 cheaper with free shipping at "another big name" online retailer. I kept refreshing the page all day to see it it was a glitch.

Overall Review: I like Newegg and buy most computer products from here, but they do not price match. And if I can get the same thing for less from somewhere else, why wouldn't I.

I like it!

Cavalry 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" Dock and Hard Drive Bundle CAHDD3001T1
Cavalry 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" Dock and Hard Drive Bundle CAHDD3001T1

Pros: -The best computer accesory (for the price) I have ever bought from Newegg! -Great for quick diagnosis of a failed/damaged HD, particularly from laptops...just pop it right in. -Simple to use. -Holds two SATA 3.0 (unlike most others with only one slot). -No capacity limit!!! 1.5 and 2 TB drives work perfectly (other brands have a 1 TB drive max).

Cons: -Power button on the back (so I keep mine sideways) -Drives may fit loosely (this dock is meant to be stationary...dont position it where it might easily be hit/bumped). -Not portable. -Makes a cheap rattling sound (useless springs) when moved. -No paper documentation (Could be a pro since it saves paper...just dl the info from the Calvary website).

Overall Review: With the combo this is probably the cheapest HD dock on the market. I have a seagate 1.5TB in it...can't wait to put a 2TB when the price of those drop. I use this with a laptop for storing video, pictures, etc...so don't have it on most of the time. The drive does get pretty hot if you leave it on all day.

Great product!

Cavalry 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" Dock and Hard Drive Bundle CAHDD3001T1
Cavalry 1TB USB 2.0 3.5" Dock and Hard Drive Bundle CAHDD3001T1

Pros: -No max capacity, unlike some HDD docks that only support up to 1TB. -Fast transfer rate. -Long wires. -The bundled HD is $100 by itself, super silent, and more than fast enough when used externally. -Looks totally tech-geek-ish.

Cons: -Bundled HD not partitioned/formatted, so you can't use it out of the box. You will need to shove it into your desktop first to set it up. *Not good for those who only have a laptop. -Drives will move in the slots. Connections may be damaged if hit/moved from the side, especially if you use 2.5" in it. *Not good if you have kids, vibrations (leg twitching), or tend to accidentally hit things on your desk.

Overall Review: -Seems good for the price and is built quite well. -I have no idea how to change it to the BIG setting. No instructions in the box, but you probably can find them online. There are 3 switches in the back, which give you no clue as to how or what they do. *So if you are giving it as a gift, do a search for the manual and print it out so that your friend will know it actually has that option.
