Works beautifully with Debian Linux
Pros: This is the first time I have ever had a hardware manufacturer put native Linux drivers on their install disk. Obviously, someone at Edimax has a clue. Up and working (once the firmware package was installed) as fast as I could type "ifup wlan0".
Cons: While the native Linux software is included on the install disk, sadly, the binary firmware requires compiling, and following their included instructions for the compile failed. Edimax only provides the .tar for the firmware, not precompiled.
Overall Review: Obviously, from the other reviews, the firmware is included by default in many Linux distributions. In Debian, the "firmware-ralink" package is in the standard non-free repository.
Snap in and worked.
Pros: Silent, fit without trouble on AM3 mount. No problem fitting without imposing on memory or expansion cards.
Cons: Extremely light weight. While well worth the money, the price shows in the construction.
Overall Review: This is exactly what was advertised, a practically silent fan on an adequate heat sink. Well worth the cost.
No hassle, no issues. Couldn't ask for more.
Pros: Dropped in, full Debian installed and running in record time. Storage should not be a surprise, and this SSD is doing exactly what it should be doing: Working.
Cons: None yet.
Overall Review: I made sure to follow SSD recommendations in /etc/fstab, as well as turning swapiness down to nothing and using ramdisk for /tmp. That said, I couldn't be more pleased with "long term storage" (can't say disk drive any more) that just works.
Good case, good price
Pros: Small, tight, simple. Once put together there is nothing to indicate that the drive and case were not made for each other. The case is no bigger than it needs to be, and the aluminim is light and stiff. Includes three screws where two are needed, just in case one is dropped. Packaging is excellent. Useful zip-lock bags and the cloth carrying bag, and the double-ended cable simplifies things greatly.
Cons: There is not a lot of forgiveness for being sloppy. Take care with connecting the drive. I'm not sure I would use the word "fragile", maybe just "delicate", there simply isn't much margin for error until it's put together. The included screwdriver is one size too small. They work, but having your own P1 phillips head driver will make it much easier.
Overall Review: I wanted something simple and inexpensive, and I received exactly that. Thank you, I will certainly buy one again in the future.
Small, simple, effective, clean
Pros: Quiet and rugged, it does exactly what it's supposed to do. I've used it on 1 desktop and 2 laptops, USB3 and USB2, with no problems at all. I have had it running for a week at a time, it stayed merely warm and performed without error.
Cons: None
Overall Review: This does exactly what it says it will do.
Tiny useful storage
Pros: Tiny, simple, no problems at all.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I use this in my car where the thumb drive sticks out of the faceplate of the stereo. Cars are moving, chaotic places, and having a regular thumb drive sticking out has lead to disaster in the past. The DT Micro hides completely out of the way.
"Refurbished"
If I did not know I had ordered this laptop used, I would have thought it new. This the cleanest, tightest, most blemish-free "refurb" I've yet seen. I would not hesitate to buy from this seller again, and I intend to seek out their good the next time I need a laptop.
Quick shipping and perfect description
There were no problems with my order, the hardware was exactly as described and installed without troubles. Shipping was quick and I am perfectly satisfied. Thank you.
