Very awesome and unique enclosure

Rosewill Transclosure RX200R-APU3-25B External Hard Drive Enclosure - Dual Slots for 2 x 2.5" SATA SSDs / HDDs with RAID 0 / 1 & JBOD / 2 LUN, USB 3.0 Connection, 100% Screw-less, Aluminum Body
Rosewill Transclosure RX200R-APU3-25B External Hard Drive Enclosure - Dual Slots for 2 x 2.5" SATA SSDs / HDDs with RAID 0 / 1 & JBOD / 2 LUN, USB 3.0 Connection, 100% Screw-less, Aluminum Body

Pros: - Quick USB 3.0 transfer speeds (depending on configuration) - Nice and compact enclosure fits anywhere and easily transportable - Aluminum enclosure helps dissipate heat - Power/activity lights aren't too bright - Great price for the tech

Cons: - Have to be careful when inserting the drives

Overall Review: First things first: READ. THE. INSTRUCTIONS. Any reviewer that has complained about corrupting their data just flat out didn't read the directions and/or didn't check the setting on the enclosure itself. If you have the enclosure set to anything except "2LUN" and insert two hard drives with data and fire up the thing... you're going to have a bad time. I upgraded mine and my GFs laptop to SSDs, so I took the 1TB Hybrid Drives left over and used them in the enclosure in RAID 1. I'm using it as a home NAS of sorts plugged into my Asus RT-AC68U router. The drive(s) are seen by Win 7 as local disks rather than removable media. You will have to initialize the disk and format them before use. If you do a full format it will take a LONG time depending on your setup; with 2x1TB 5400RPM in RAID 1 it took over 18 hours to fully format. The enclosure itself is well built for the price. You do have to be careful when inserting the drives, but this is just due to the diminutive size of the enclosure itself. The doors may seem a little flimsy but they're doing double duty of being covers and drive trays. 9/10, would definitely buy again.

Decent for the price

D-Link DGS-1008D Desktop Switch
D-Link DGS-1008D Desktop Switch

Pros: Price is definitely user friendly. On top of that is the occasional mail in rebate offered! Gigabit rocks, and is quickly becoming the new standard to have. Closest 8-port Gigabit switch is twice this price.

Cons: No Jumbo Frame support. Also, apparently parts of the router overheat, causing some ports to drop down to 100Mb. It seems to be a problem with how many users are actually using the switch at once.

Overall Review: Better cooling or a necessary heatsink here and there would probably fix the overheating issue. The box gets quite warm and I'm almost certain there's something inside that deserves a chipsink/heatsink that dosent'have one. Tempted to crack it open and start thermal probing, but I'll try it after my warranty is up. It's a noted issue if you check around, and it's a hit or miss kind of thing. Guess the lesson is you get what you pay for. Still satisfied with the performance for the price though!

Excellent fans, start off 5v/USB power

ARCTIC COOLING BioniX F140 ACFAN00161A 140mm Gaming Fan with PWM PST
ARCTIC COOLING BioniX F140 ACFAN00161A 140mm Gaming Fan with PWM PST

Overall Review: Bought two fans for making a laptop cooler, and both fans are able to start off USB (5v/500mA) power with no problem. Inrush current was measured peaking at 390mA and settles down to ~270mA while running. On the box just one fan is rated at 200mA, these are excellent low power fans. Being able to start at 5v is important so the fans don't stall and burn up the motor. Stuck my finger against the fan and they were still able to strongly resist and push through with a significant amount of force so there's a good amount of torque to maintain static pressure.

Nice cards

ADATA 16GB Premier microSDHC UHS-I / Class 10 Memory Card with SD Adapter, Speed Up to 50MB/s (AUSDH16GUICL10-RA1)
ADATA 16GB Premier microSDHC UHS-I / Class 10 Memory Card with SD Adapter, Speed Up to 50MB/s (AUSDH16GUICL10-RA1)

Pros: - Low Price - Great combo pack discount - Very versatile

Cons: None

Overall Review: Great inexpensive cards for either your main device or any peripheral. I bought 3 of these in a Newegg combo discount, just needed an 8GB but for the price difference even if you're buying 1 it's just worth it to get the 16GB. Have one in an Android HTPC, one in my GPS, and one in a thumb drive adapter. Transfer speeds are great, with all cards slightly exceeding the spec.

9 years, still going strong

MASSCOOL FD12025B1H3/4 High Speed Case Fan
MASSCOOL FD12025B1H3/4 High Speed Case Fan

Pros: - Ball Bearing - Pre-sleeved - Extremely long lasting - Quiet!

Cons: None

Overall Review: Don't have this particular fan, but the model previous to it (N82E16835150052). Bought two of them 9 years ago now from NewEgg with near 24/7 operation in a home server. Definitely got my money's worth!

Wonderful Hard Drive... Of Course!

Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ 2.5" Solid State Hybrid Drive Bare Drive
Seagate Momentus XT ST95005620AS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s with NCQ 2.5" Solid State Hybrid Drive Bare Drive

Pros: Faster than standard HDD speed with cheaper than SSD capacity

Cons: Bought a week before they went on a better sale :(

Overall Review: I originally bought 4 of these for a RAID 0 setup for my main computer. I was so impressed with the performance that I bought another for my PS3. The front end loads faster and browsing through Netflix is noticeably faster as well.
