Pros: With NVMe, boot times for Win10 is fast, as expected, but INCREDIBLY the Win7 32bit on SATA was unbelievably fast also.... Internet surfing is faster as well. Ubuntu 16.10 also runs nicely and is impressive with this MB. Soon, in the near future, we may not need M$ Windows, especially Win10.
Cons: Because the 7th Generation Intel CPUs will only run Win10 (as well a linux), they are not going to be welcomed by many ops and neither are the new Intel SOCs like J4205. New CPUs should be able to work with past OS, even XP. Seems like Intel and M$ are trying to FORCE people to "upgrade" to the complicated "crapware" Win10 O.S.. ?
Other Thoughts: To this MB, I mounted an I3-6100T (6th Gen), 2x4GB memory, and a BPX NVMe SSD. To bypass the thumb drive procedure for adding the USB3 xHCL driver (USB mouse won't work without it), I used my previous two O.S. from the Intel J1900 SOC by just adding the USB3 xHCL driver on the old system, from the installation disk that comes with this MB. The mouse then remained active for Win7. (With Acronis cloning, I put Win10/64 on the NVMe and Win7U/32 on the SATA SSD.). I thought it would be helpful for people to know that you don't need a thumb drive to install Win 7. 32bit or 64 bit.
Bye bye Windows 10. Hello Ubuntu 16.10. Win7 will survive.
Update the BIOS to P1.10 or you could have a problem with Boot Options wth the older BIOS..
I am now extremely pleased with this new MB .... especially because I didn't even have to reload any programs.
This review is from: Addonics M2 PCIe SSD - PCIe 3.0 4-Lane Adapter
Pros: It works..
Cons: I noticed that there are many identical such PCIe Adapter boards like this one sold by many vendors. This one is not the cheapest from Addonics.
Other Thoughts: Since it took 9 days to arrive from a Maryland Store to Oklahoma. Next time I will pay the extra and get it direct from Newegg for only a few bucks more. I was in no hurry this time because I am waiting for the Micron SSD 2100.READ FULL REVIEW
This review is from: iStarUSA BPN-2535DE-SA 3.5" to 2 x 2.5" SATA 6 Gbps HDD SSD Hot-swap Rack
Pros: Doors and hinges on this usit are metal. The unit is aluminum, has a solid feel. Everything works fine and dandy with Samsung SATA3 SSDs.
Cons: I use a Samsung SSD 850 installed for the OS. With another SSD, INTEL 520 data drive (Sata3), in the other slot, it would not read the Intel SSD for some reason. At the same time the LED light viewed weak. The exact same data on a Samsung 840 SSD read perfectly in the same slot. LEDs were normal. Why would a Samsung work and not an Intel SSD.? I tried several INTEL SSDs, they wouldn't work.
Other Thoughts: I changed cables thinking maybe it was my cables, to correct the problem. It didn't work. Somebody needs to check the pin-outs and SSD details to find out the difference. Maybe the vendor can explain. My assumption is that it may have something to do with current draw.? Not sure.
Since my system works fine with Samsung SSDs in the iStar dock is ok for my use, so I took off only one star. People with only Intel SSDs may give it one star or return the unit as defective.!
