worst (best) thing i ever bought
Pros: it is amazing! i am hooking this up to a high power audio work station, nothing compares to the ease i am able to perform simple button clicks and level adjustments. this is one of the most awesome things i have ever worked with. a ton of screen space to work with as well.
Cons: you will never want to use another computer. this makes life so easy you will start trying to poke at all computer screens.
Overall Review: buy this, the only bad thing is you will want to buy a second
on further inspection
Pros: see last post
Cons: bad power supply, fan is loud
Overall Review: after a week of pulling my hair out and talking sternly with customer service reps, I finally realized that the power supply that came with the case was wired incorrectly. (on the 4 pin CPU power connector the hots were actually the grounds and vise versa) a simple flaw that has caused myself and those reps with whom i talked a bit of a headache. note that the one egg rating is only to offset the 5 egg rating i gave earlier, to give an average rating of 3 eggs.
to offset bad review
Pros: ?
Cons: ?
Overall Review: my previously posted review includes some incorrect information. I must apologize for my error. my issue turned out to be with the power supply. i will re-post with a more accurate review after further analysis.
don't buy
Pros: good features (if you can get it to work)
Cons: if you want to use the latest and greatest processors, you have to update the bios. to do this you apparently have to have an old FM1 socket processor laying around as it will do nothing but act as a very expensive paperweight with the A8 3ghz without F5 bios. have been trouble shooting this for a week. RMA'd the board, RMA'd the processor still won't post. Gigabyte's tech support is very helpful, but now I have to return it to gigabyte in CA for a bios update so it will recognize my cpu. Nothing should be this complicated in life. My tax return that paid for this system was easier.
Overall Review: unless you have a heap of spare parts laying around (and a prescription for Vicodin for the headache it will give you) don't but this board.
nice case lotts of features
Pros: nice case, esthetically pleasing, nice LCD fan controller with temp monitor, well constructed and solid. exceptional tech support.
Cons: kinda cramped inside (but that is the nature of the beast and I knew this going in) some mounting screws are hard to reach
Overall Review: Though the specs say that this can hold an ATX board, and 2 - 4 hard drives, it can only hold a micro ATX board, and at that, you must be careful about the memory that you select. I have Corsair Vengeance 2 x 8GB and I can only mount 2.5 inch drives. 4 of them with the right adapters (possibly 6), but a 3.5 inch drive will not fit with tall memory. In all honesty, 3.5 inch drives would greatly crowd the case
