The little Netbook that could...

Pros: Lightweight, responsive, good battery life, beautiful bright (glossy) screen.
Cons: 1. hinge can't open past ~135deg 2. cheap pen tip size plastic dots used to enforce #1 easily accidentally broken using normal opening force 3. usb & power ports fragile, fear weight/force on ports causing damage. 4. "One hand carying" by palm rest when open consistently cause chassis bend enough that unit won't sit flat on table. Fix is flexing it back, not good! 5. extremely rear heavy, easily tips backwards 6. HOT! single exhaust only port (no intakes) under palm rest. Slightest obstruction by hand/sleeve/etc leads to drastically elevated temps, potential unit overheat & shortened component life. 7. Enertronix PSU brick hot, know to be unreliable. Consumer pays shipping on warranty replacement 8. No official Asus DC-DC car adapter nor any officially endorsed brands. Caveat Emptor buying cheap China 19V/2.1A/40W generics 9. Bloatware galore; custom reinstall w/ unbranded media works but renders recovery partition useless without more work
Overall Review: Overall this is a great little unit marred by some glaring issues that likely plague the netbook segment. Some are forgivable, others just simply unacceptable! From researching after failure it's clear the PSU is a known issue which Asus should recall & offer free replacement with Delta brick, it's not and they still ship with flawed PSU. Hinge stop construction + bendable frame are spots where a little more metal goes a long way and Asus clearly drops the ball here. Choices with the cooling baffle me since there are solutions if they spent a few $$$ more on the designg. I DO recommend this with reservation because I still think it's top of the netbook segment yet must say "shame on you Asus" for not putting a little more work into was is very nice and quite expensive unit by comparison to other netbooks & low end laptops!
RIP Red Storm old friend

Pros: Game was fun FPS with linear RPG aspects similar to the original R6 of years gone by. Some changes have been made to the franchise since I 1st played the original Red Storm titles. Pretty rendering & good framerate on my 3870x2 even if it did only use 1 GPU core despite being an AMD bundle with my ATI dual GPU video card purchase. Was fun to play if not a bit infuriating at times.
Cons: One word: Buggy! Most recent update added a quirk to the useless voice command system that caused random orders to be issued even though you have voice command turned off. Fix is to disable, mute, etc... your mic in Windows AND the game. AI's were stupid especially your team who would get in front of you, not take cover, or worse not execute commands. Clearly activity through the levels was trigger based and enemies would appear out of thin air rather than making their way in from a logical origin. Unreal engine is terrible IMHO! Sound issues for 1988B on board sound users like myself (thanks Asus, *not*!) and others including the overpriced Creative dren. No access to console for tweaking, no straight forward editing of INI or CFG files either. Online play is supposedly marred by today console kiddies and their hack & slash style of playing rather than the tactical play you learn in single player story mode.
Overall Review: Give my Valve's HL2 engine, ID's Doom3/Quake4, Stalker's X-ray, or Crytek's Crysis engines and I'd be a much happier camper. Of course engines can not offset the lack of skill putting together an over all good title our French friends at Ubisoft Montreal have. Never mind the differences from the old R6 to this new junk from the Ubisoft has a special place in my heart for putting out some of the poorest titles and supporting them as such. Want a better game? Play Stalker, Crysis, or HL2 you'll be much happier!
Another vendor misses the target!

Pros: 4 ports, nice clean & simple design.
Cons: DOES NOT WORK AS ADVERTISED! Simply put no matter what port you plug an Android phone into it's going to see it as "USB" because the charger has the data lines unloaded. Plug in a Vita & get nothing because Vita expects some load for USB mode or short for AC adapter mode. PS3 controllers, nothing assuming because again there's no load at all on the data lines! Apple? Dunno, I refuse to drink Cupertino-Aid but I'll bet they fail also because icrap also relies on some kind of data line trickery before drawing more than 500ma (or (anything at all???).
Overall Review: How long are the various charger manufacturers going to get away with ignoring the USB standards and blatantly lie about what their chargers can do? Add this to the pile with the rosewill DC/DC lighter adapter that claims 2.1A but also has an open data pair so nothing works that relies on shorted data pins, the rest blindly limp along at 500ma. I call on RAVPower to PAY to have my device returned to them & send me a replacement with proper data line options (shorted, partial load?) if they're smart enough to do so! Otherwise it's void warranty time to crack the case & mod the data line leads to shorted No matter what I want 100% refund for the deceptive advertising!
Same design, same overheating problems

Pros: 7 usb ports, yea!
Cons: Surprised these are still on the market! Known fact that the USB controller chip in these overheats and should of at least had a massive heatsink & air flow.
Overall Review: Of the two I have on hand, one has been modded with a heat sink and still it reads over 105F on average in a 65F room, The other is well over that under use without a heat sink.

Pros: 3GB & HD 7950 for $204.
Cons: Initial reaction vs. Asus HD7870 I purchased same day. By comparison MSI lacks: 1. polished packaging 2. 2nd DVI port 3. has inferior stock cooling General con for all ATI cards is the game bundle choices absolutely suck. In fact they duplicate the free games we already get on PS3 for having PSN+. AMD Never should of removed Bioshock and certainly should be adding something better before this promo codes are dead.
Overall Review: Sitting on fence trying to decide if better video for same money (from deals) is worth trading down in build quality or to take my rebate windfall & resell both to purchase a better Asus model with 7950, DirectCU II, 3GB, & 2 DVI ports.
Won't charge Sony Vita

Pros: Seemingly plenty of Amps in a reasonable sized, plastic package.
Cons: Yet another 5V power source that doesn't emulate a USB port well enough. Don't know specifically what Sony's trigger is but likely like many other devices requires a resistive load on the data lines to accept power source as a dumb charger vs. USB port.
Overall Review: Not enough info about regulation nor heat dissipation supplied in package to satisfy my questions. Haven't tried with HTC Inspire smartphone yet but that was not the targeted use, the Sony Vita was.
Scammer, Avoid!
*0* Eggs! Tracking# was never valid & when asked why after over a week I get a boilerplate auto-responder issuing rebate. Vendors who think they can "barrow" 0% interest loans from customers, make them wait for merchandise that never arrives, and then simply issue refund rather than making good on the order need to be stripped, tarred, feathered, and dragged by horse through town if not outright executed. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Shame on Newegg for not policing these 3rd party stores better!
