APC BR700G Back-UPS Pro 700VA 6-outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Pros: LCD display and, well, that's about it.

Cons: Buzzes. A lot. Took this to the client site, plugged it in, starts buzzing. Thought it may need to charge fully so left it plugged in. Stop by next day, still buzzing, returned to Newegg for exchange. Took new one to client site, again buzzes. Doesn't buzz on battery, just charging.

Other Thoughts: It is not the building or power outlet. I plugged in several different outlets at client site, plus plugged in at my office, same buzz. I install APC battery backups exclusively, about two a month on average. I have three different ones running in my home as well - no buzzing anywhere. Also checked firmware, but none available. What a PITA! I hate any product that makes me look like I don't know which products are good. Come on, APC!

Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013 Product Key Card - 1 PC

Pros: I've used all Office versions and know what to expect with every upgrade. This one's pleasantly surprising.

Cons: I don't like the fact that you need to sign in with a Live account just to access the download your purchased. As the description says, this is just the serial number. Fine, but when you take this to a client site, you have to sign in with a Live account and if they already have their Hotmail signed in, then you don't want to sign them out, or explain to them the number is associated with their Live account, or just have a bunch of numbers associated with your own see where I'm going with this? Why associate at all? Leave association optional as you do after Office is installed. Ok, that's my only gripe.

NETGEAR EX6100-100NAS Wireless AC750 Dual-Band Gigabit Range Extender

3 out of 5 eggs Not for the faint of heart 02/05/2014

This review is from: NETGEAR EX6100-100NAS Wireless AC750 Dual-Band Gigabit Range Extender

Pros: Super wifi strength. Small design. Love that it plugs directly into the wall outlet. Love the physical switch for Extender/AccessPoint.

Cons: What team designed this interface? Who approved this decision? No firmware available on netgear's site, not even shipping firmware? Boot times are horrendous - makes you think it's not working, but wait, there it is. Delay probably due to the URL needing to propagate to DNS so that you can configure it from read that correctly. Oh, and the IP it gets from the DHCP server does not respond so you can only config it from the URL. I was watching my syslog and every time the device would boot it asked for a different address. Why? Oh, and don't disable UPnP, it stops working. I only used it in AP mode, haven't tried it in Extender mode.

Other Thoughts: The setup is unnecessarily convoluted, even if you follow Netgear's apparently 3 step instruction. First connect to the extender's broadcasting ssid to configure it to access your office ssid. It's similar to HP printers and Roku's, I get it, but wouldn't it be easier to have an app that does the config over Bluetooth?
