Awesome Overclock
Pros: This chip is awesome! The best bang for the buck for overclocking. I am running 2.59GHz (288MHz x 9) stable (ran Prime95 12 hours w/o errors). The only drawback is that I had to throttle back my RAM to a 266MHz (DDR) clock. Even still, I get killer frames in BF2 and Oblivion (avg. 55 each) with all the setting on high and AA 2x using an ATI X800XT PE AGP 8x with stock settings (520MHz core, 1120MHz mem).
Cons: None!
Overall Review: Do your research to find out which mobos and RAM are good overclockers before you purchase this so you can get the most out of it. Also, the stepping on these is very relevant on how far you can push them (although you are almost guaranteed at least a 500MHz overclock with a decent mobo and RAM).
Corrupt after 5 months
Pros: Was working nicely until my Samsung phone stopped recognizing it.
Cons: No longer recognized by my desktop computer after 5 months of use in my phone. Unable to format. I guess it's a roll of the dice with flash memory these days...
Great Speakers, Nice Value
Pros: Very nice value. Nice sub. Control panel has nice features. Speakers look nice. Optical input is sweet. I am using it with my PS2 and it sounds awesome. BF2 sounds sweet with my Audigy 2 ZS sound card, as do my other games. They give you plenty of cord length for the rear speakers.
Cons: Console plugs into the sub and the cable is only 3 feet long.
Overall Review: Does not come with an optical cable. Definitely worth it to get one if you can make use of it. Also, as others have said, it would be wise to get take the time to physically listen to the speakers if you can before making a decision. In my humble opinion though, the price is justified.
All depends on the user...
Pros: XP Pro is a nice OS in my opinion and I have not had any real problems with it. There a a huge number of ways you can tweak it for performance to get it running really nicely (if you know how to). Good OS for general and advanced users. OEM version is nice and cheap.
Cons: It's no secret that it has security flaws...I lowered my rating to 4 just for that.
Overall Review: As long as you take care of your computer XP will run fine. Yes, it is Microsoft's responsibility to take care of their customers but people need to get educated about spyware and malware threats. Just because it has some security problems doesn't mean that it is entirely Microsoft's fault that people have problems with it. I have an old Western Digital hard drive that came with a Sony VAIO I got about 4 or 5 years ago (this was before I started building my own machines) and I have reformatted it numerous times with XP. Both the hard drive and XP performed fine each time and are running smoothly to this day. Also, if you do get a new mobo and/or reformat all you need to do is call Windows to activate your same copy on your new hardware and they will be happy to oblige. I've never had problems with it. In fact, I just finished a new Opty build and was able to activate my copy over the internet. If you need a real workhorse then you should be running Linux.
Excellent Speakers
Pros: I purchased these speakers about a year ago and they have served me well for the entire time! Great sound quality and nice input options. THe optical input coming from my PS2 sound incredible. 505 Watts sure is nice!
Cons: Power bill increases slightly?
Overall Review: Plenty of length in thw wires for setup around your room. The Z-5450 model has 2 wireless rear speakers which seems nice but at a cost of having 315 Watts. Are the wires really that big of a deal?
Piece of Junk (at least mine was)
Pros: Worked great when it worked. Easy to install: just plugged it in an off it went.
Cons: I have had 3 of the 5 ports die in the past 3 weeks. I don't know what the deal is. Two died the other day and I come home to find another dead. No power was reset on my neighborhood's grid or anything.
Overall Review: Get the 10/100/1000. It might cost more but is *hopefully* more reliable than this piece. It costs $x for a reason.
