5 out of 5 eggs A perfect companion for anyone in need of a large number of USB ports and ability to charge your mobile device. 03/31/2014

This review is from: HooToo® HT-UH010 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub with 2 Smart-Charging Ports for iPad, iPhone, Smart Phones & Tablets (Latest VIA VL812 Chipset, 12V/5A Power Adapter, 3.3ft USB Data Cable)

Pros: Provides 7 USB 3.0 ports plus (1) 1A and (1) 2.1A charging ports

Cons: Dedicated charging ports do not support data transfer as well.

Other Thoughts: When I'm not using my iPad, my home PC is a laptop computer with a total of three USB ports, one of which can be flaky at times, so needless to say, my USB connections are at a premium.

Before getting the HooToo® HT-UH010, I had an external keyboard plugged into one USB port, a Blue microphone for podcasting in the second and the third was taken up by an external USB hard drive. Unfortunately, this often meant that whenever I wanted to connect (or charge) my iOS devices, plug in a thumb drive to copy off a file, or my remote control to program, something needed to be unplugged.

Now with this hub, I have more USB ports than I know what to do with (seven to be exact). Plus I have two dedicated charging ports for my iPhone, iPad or wirelss game pad and I no longer have to depend on my laptop for charging my mobile devices. I always have quick and easy access to power whenever I need it, with no shuffling of cables.

I can have all of my USB devices (external drives, keyboard, mouse, printer, microphone and more) connected at full USB 3.0 speed (though my laptop is old enough that it only supports USB 2.0). However, if I were to connect two USB 3.0 devices to the HUB's data ports, it allows for quick v3.0 speeds for transfers of data between these devices.

I've been using the HT-UH010 for nearly two weeks now and I haven't noticed any delays or issues with any of the USB devices I've attached to my laptop through the hub. My iPhone and iPad charge in the same amount of time as their standard power bricks. Actually, if I use the 2.1A port to charge my iPhone I'm seeing slightly faster charge times.

The hub was dead simple to hook up, I just plugged one end into a wall socket and the other end into the laptop and I was good to go on my Windows 7 PC. Any devices I plugged into the HUB were instantly recognized by the laptop, and drivers were automatically installed if necessary.

If I had to nitpick about one thing, I guess it would be that the two charging ports don't also support data transfer and the 7 data ports don't support charging. That means when it comes time to connect my iOS devices to my laptop to sync or transfer data, I need to move the cables from the charging ports to two of the data USB ports. Though with seven USB 3.0 data ports available, it hasn't been a problem and it really is just a minor inconvenience.

The hub is not meant to be a place to charge 5 mobile devices at the same time ( i have another device for that). Instead it is a perfect companion for a home office (or office office) where a large number of USB devices are used on a single PC. The added benefit of the dedicated charging ports mean you'll ALWAYS have a place to juice up your phone and/or tablet from the same hub. It is small enough to travel with, and will easily fit in the laptop bag of any road warrior.

In the interest of full disclosure, I want to note that I was sent a sample unit by the manufacturer in exchange honest re

3 out of 5 eggs First fram was bad...waiting on a replacement 07/30/2008

This review is from: Matsunichi PF1009M 10" Widescreen 10" 800 x 480 TRUE DIGITAL Cherry Digital Picture Frame

Pros: The frame was big and picture quality was good for the price.

Nice features that generally aren't on many other frames. like auto-dim and clock/calendar mode .

Cons: * light wasn't evenly distributed across the frame.
* Stretch modes distort the pictures too much.
* Couldn't find a way to easily re-order pictures.
* Cherry wood frame looks fake, black is much better, unfortunately cherry is the one that's on the frame by default.

The packaging on newegg's part was fine, but the frame was defective.

I received the frame last week and after setting it up, I noticed a defect with the frame. On the right-hand side of the screen, there was a vertical bar of lighter area that is as much as 1/4 inch wide (Depending on the angle you view the frame). It looks terrible and makes all the pictures look faded on the right side.

I paid enough money for the frame, the screen should be perfect with light evenly distributed across the screen.

I returned the frame and am awaiting the replacement.
I'm hoping the replacement doesn't have the same issue, otherwise I'll be loking for a different frame.
