does this have RCA or Optical? or just 3.5mm?

Just 2.5mm.  They're pretty basic 2.1 computer speakers but have surprisingly good sound quality for the price.  Great for one-time setups -- I wouldn't trust these to remain intact through frequent relocations.  If you want to set and forget the family desktop but give it good build-in audio -- get these.  They're grand.

can these be wall mounted?

No. They're designed for sitting on a surface. There are no attachments for mounting.

Is this system compatible with an Ipod?

With the right cable it should work with an Ipod, but I think there are better speaker systems out there designed for the Ipod. I'm using these on my computer and they work great for me. I would think you'd be better off with a Bluetooth speaker for your Ipod. I bought one from Creative Labs that was fairly inexpensive and works well.
