Question 1

I bought this unit in 2003 and have used it daily on a large PC based Video Editing workstation and Gateway/Router until I got a macbook Pro. I put the unit back in its box and stored it from 2005 until 2013 when I connected it to a new iMac 27" and 4 hard drive ac adapters and router. It has given me any trouble until now (March 2015).  It still operates but I am noticing it using more of the battery resources. It must be time to replace the batteries.
  Where can I get what spec. batteries? I think it has 4 12 volt 950 MAH batteries??
  Any suggestions would be great.

I have experienced the battery decline, which sounds exactly what you are going through.........

Go to a Batteries Plus Store...........they have the exact battery you need right in the store!  A much more simple solution than ordering them over the internet, just unscrew your battery rack from the unit, screws on the front of the unit, and take it to them, they'll do it all for you!

There are (4) batteries to replace......you can shop the pricing, but I'm sure you'll prefer the local solution.

Question 2

Im shopping.   I use Go to my PC.  I wouldnt want an "automatic shut down in an orderly fashion" to occur.  I would want uninterrupted availability.  Electric goes out; battery goes on; electric comes on; battery goes to 'sleep' or whatever.  Does this product do that?

The automatic shutdown is a feature that can be used, but requires the included connection cables and software. I use this UPS to power network equipment in my home (modem, router, switch) and do not use the connection cables or software. My power has not gone out since setting this up, but I have unplugged it and it continued to power my equipment. I think this product will do just what you are looking for. That said, if the power is out long enough, the battery will run out and your stuff will lose power. The amount of time depends on how much power you are drawing and the specs of the UPS. With 1500VA at 950W, this one is pretty robust and will outlast a lot of other options.

this product says it is rack mount but I do not see the mounting hardware attached, is this to be purchased separately?

I want to use this in a rackmount. What model rails do I need to get with it?

A shelf, either fixed or sliding.  This UPS has optional "ears" which attach at the front.  They are not intended to support the weight of the UPS;  they only keep it from sliding in/out until the thumb bolts are released.
     If you only need one UPS, you could put it in the bottom 2U of your rack with a 1/4" spacer (strip of wood trim) at the rear.

Does this product support real or simulated sine wave? Conserned about Cosair PSU that require this.
