Pros: Enabled me to increase signal strength and improve data rate. Low cost (after rebate). Good instructions (outlines well the unit's field patterns and risks re magnetic base).
Cons: Does not match the picture (not a con but be aware). Also be aware that although omni-directional in the horizontal plane, its vertical field is only 36 degrees (18 degrees either side of perpendicular to the antenna). So I needed to tilt the antenna (it's positionable) to 'aim' the vertical field at the router upstairs. This improved the signal noticeably. This may explain why some people have mixed results.
Overall Review: My one (different from picture) came with a five foot cable. Still longer than some antennae on the market but not the 'six feet' that another reviewer has mentioned. You can easily remove the magnets (by unscrewing the base plate) if you're worried about the effect on hard drives and other magnetic media.
