 I need to confirm i can use with Time Warner Cable

I have this modem and use it with Time 
Warner Cable. ( it is also on their approved modem list )

However, as far as Ipv6 goes time warner does not provide full support for it yet. Now, if you run a test on a Ipv6 test website to test if you can see ipv6 sites it will you show that you can If you have the modem directly connected to your computer with NO ROUTER\FIREWALL.  if you connect with a router between your modem and computer it will fail the ipv6 test.  I have tried all kinds of settings with my d link router, nothing works. ask time warner  they say ipv6 is not supported yet.  there is some kind of ipv4 TO ivp6 trick that is used by time warner that reroutes ipv6 addresses to an ipv4 address but it is not true ipv6 and it only works if you have the modem directly connected to your computer ( no router )
near as I can tell this lets time warner clam they are ipv6 ready.  however if you call them they will tell you they do not support it.

Is this wifi compatible?

No, It has no WIFI built in, you have to have a WIFI router in addition to this cable modem or a different cable modem which has a WIFI build in.  This is a cable modem which connects to your cable provider(Time warner/Comcast/ETC).  Buy a router to connect to this modem and you would have a WIFI.
In general, an internet provider will provide you with a cable modem, but they will charge you a monthly rental.

Do i need to buy a wireless router separately for this modem or does it have a built-in wireless router in it. Could you someone please help me answer this question?

You need to buy your own wireless router. I have the Nighthawk 1900AC attached to it and it works like a charm in my two story house very happy with both products.
 
Modem works better than the one I received from TWC.

No, strictly a cable modem. I replaced the "leased" unit from Time-Warner Cable with this model. My speed is much more stable since swapping out and it will pay for itself in about a year.

Does this modem handle a telephone land line???

There is no phone jack directly on it.  There is a coax jack (for the cable connection), an Ethernet jack (for the router or computer), and a power jack.

If you have a Voice Over IP device, such as with Vonage, with an Ethernet port, then that should be able to connect to the Ethernet jack.  That device will "bridge" the Ethernet network with the plain old telephone service.

Is this modem mountable? Does it have screw slides on the underside? It's impossible to find any pictures online underneath this thing!!

Yep, it has two screw slides on the bottom of the unit. I have it mounted to the inside of my desk with them so that it is off the floor.

Has anyone else had a problem where after a few days of uptime you can no longer login to the modem's configuration page?

How many ports does it have?

I need a Computer Cable with more than one port that's compatible with Comcast and it looked like it might have more than one port. The others didn't.

Comcast requires hardware revision level E1.  Is this specific model at that level? Thanks.

Yes, the DCM-301 is a fine modem that fills all the cable company requirements. You may even see an increase in your download speeds. Don't let the cable companies charge a monthly fee for their equipment when you can buy your own and save over the long run.

Question 10

Does anyone have the issue of the DS - Downstream (2nd light) not being lit with Comcast? I get different answers from the clueless techs at Comcast and D-Link as to what is going on and I'm wondering if I have a defective modem.

Not surprised you can't get a decent answer from Comcast. Their phone techs really don't know squat outside what they can get on their terminals. Yet, they keep charging us more and we don't really get any more for it. Well enough rant, the answer is fairly simple. DOCSIS 3 utilizes multiple channel downstreams to achieve higher speeds. The DS light is for single stream (DOCSIS 2 and lower) and the modem communicates with Comcast on this channel first. The W/DS light, for multiple streams, blinks and goes solid when it locks multiple downstream channels from Comcast then the DS light goes out. This is normal operation for the modem on DOCSIS 3 and you should be connected. Hope that clears it up for you.
