Question 1

Have a high profile client in a rather large home that wants ethernet to (3) DirecTV boxes, and doesn't want me to chop up the house to run wires.  This guy is price no object, so which powerline ethernet adapter is the very best one, and what would i need to order to accommodate the scenario I just described??

I don't know which one is best.  I purchased the DHP-501AV to attach several PC's to the internet.  Works fine.

Each package contains two units.  You need one unit attached to the router and another unit for each box.

can I put a wifi router on the "end" node to join an already existing wifi network?

I think you can do it, if the computers on the other end don't get an IP address, the second router may need to be on a separate subnet. ie. 192.168.2.x instead of 192.168.1.x

Can I buy a single one also? I need to plug in two other rooms.

I don't know of anywhere to buy a single unit. I have no doubt that another unit will work when it is plugged in, but you might have to buy 2 pair to support the other room. You will only need one parent device and 2 child device. You could probably sell the spare to someone who is in your situation, or keep it in case you expand to other rooms. I'm very happy with mine, the child delivers consistently solid performance including speed. I should caution you though: make sure the units are plugged into the wall socket, not on extension cord or powerstrip. I found where they are plugged in makes a big difference.
Sorry that I can't really tell you where to buy just one. But, I think you really wouldn't be stuck with the extra in the long run.
