should work fine. the N classification means it fits all the specs of the older G units, plus more (improved range being the main upgrade). It's a similar situation to motor oil ratings (e.g. SN vs. SL)

is installation easy? does it have instruction manuel come with

Yes, installation is easy, it uses a web based interface to change settings on but it does not work well with legacy wireless cards.  If you don't have IEEE 802.11n cards, it will not complete the packet delivery using anything but Open authentication.

There also is no way to do any filtering or modification, this is a one trick pony, plug it in and find it from your appliances.

I would pass on this one unless you have experience with trouble shooting, it can be a bear to configure with legacy wireless receivers.

Question 3

Anyone tried to flash it with DD-WRT rom and use it as repeater? The site says this is supported--at least DIR-605 is supported, but doesn't list 605L.

The DIR-605L is indeed listed on the DD-WRT website - under "Known incompatible devices." It uses a Realtek chipset, which is not supported by DD-WRT. It is a completely different unit from the DIR-605.
