Even though it is a wireless modem, I can use the four ethernet plugs to connect my computers in a wired network while being able to connect more devices wirelessly?

The DIR-880L is not modem. It's a Router. Yes you can connect additional wired LAN PCs to the back of the Router while connecting wireless devices. You can also add additional Gb external network switches to the LAN port(s) if you run out of room with 4 LAN ports. I have 24 and a 8 port switch connected to my 880L.

Would this router be compatible with Verizon Fios Network?

Yes, I currently use this on Verizon Fios Network. The router is hooked to a Fios MI424WR with a Cat6 wire. I get speeds of 300-850kbps depending on the location of my netbook in the house.  Keep in mind you must have an 802.11AC modem to receive/send at these speeds 7260.HMWWB.R is the modem from Intel I use.

Can the older WiFi standards (b,g, etc) be turned off so that only the new n and ac are available? Also does the firmware allow for the 5GHz band to be disabled?

Pretty sure you can disable the older standards. Very sure you can turn off the other band. I use both though. 5ghz is better for streaming video just need to be closer. The standard spectrum is good for email and browsing along with long range.

where do I connect my USB printer at? Does this even support a network printer?

There are two USB ports on the router. One is on the back and the other is on the left side as you face the unit. Easy to locate and use.

I'd like to enable internet filtering with this router. It looks like it has parental controls for usage time and blocking specific sites, but nothing about actual smart filtering based on rating thresholds, is that correct? Does it support OpenDNS?

I would go to the OpenDNS website and punch in this router to be certain, but I can't imagine that a router as advanced as this wouldn't support it.

If you are using a 1TB+ external hard drive with this router, what's the exact model? I've heard a 1TB Seagate worked, but looking for an exact model if possible (since I've been reading a lot of people say that this router only supports hard drives with 500gb of storage or less). Thank you for any assistance!

1Tb is usually the max drive size for USB drives and D-Link routers. You can review more information about the DIR-880L at D-Links community forums.

The exact model and Mfr isn't a concern, rather any drive size 1Tb and below should work regardless of Mfr and model.

NTFS formatting is preferred for USB drive recognition with the router. Any other proprietary formatting may cause the drive not to be recognized by the router.

It's not recommended to use USB drives for large data file xfers and business applications. Network storage would be preferred for that.

Question 7

If you are using a 1TB+ external hard drive with this router, what's the exact model? I've been reading that a lot of people say this router will only work with a 500GB or less external hard drive, but have seen a few say otherwise (One person has mentioned their Seagate 1TB works, but it'd be great to know the specific model). Thanks ahead of time for any assistance!

Does this router do 2.4g and 5g concurrent? or do i have to choose between one or the other? i have a rog laptop that uses 5g but my ps3 only supports 2.4. Thanks in advance
