is this wireless?

This is a DSL modem which only provides ethernet functionality.  It does not perform as a wireless router.  It can be used in conjunction with a wireless router to provide WiFi functionality.

will it work in a wired condition?  I'm not ready for wireless yet

This is ONLY for wired Internet connections. You can connect up to 4 wired devices to this item. You cannot use this device to broadcast Wifi. You can use a wireless bridge or access point along with it if you need wireless connectivity. We use a D-link DAP-1522 with ours.

It does work with Century Link but this unit can only connect wired devices to the Internet. You can use a wireless bridge or access point along with it if you need wireless connectivity. We use a D-link DAP-1522 with ours. This is the same model Century Link will sell you for twice the price ;)

does this modem/router have upnp port forwarding?

First off I am not very experienced with port forwarding. I am going to copy and paste from the set up screen in port forwarding.

"Port Forwarding allows you to direct incoming traffic from the WAN side (identified by protocol and external port) to the internal server with a private IP address on the LAN side. The internal port is required only if the external port needs to be converted to a different port number used by the server on the LAN side. A maximum of 32 entries can be configured.

Select the service name, and enter the server IP address and click "Apply" to forward IP packets for this service to the specified server.  NOTE: The "Internal Port End" cannot be changed. It is the same as "External Port End" normally and will be the same as the "Internal Port Start" or "External Port End" if either one is modified."

Protocols offered in set up: TCP, UDP, TCP/UDP

I will dig around some more. If you can point me in an advanced setup direction be happy to look. Or I hope this tells you what you need to know.

No this is for dsl, you would need a cable modem

This is a DSL modem, and I believe Comcast is a cable internet provider.  This is not a cable modem.  If your Comcast service is via DSL, then I see no issue with using this, but if your Comcast is provided through a coaxial cable, then this modem will not work.

Will this work with AT&T?

Yes, although if it is U-Verse it already has a router and you won't need this. If you have regular AT&T DSL you will need to put the modem in Bridge mode first.

I tried to use it for AT&T DSL and I couldn't get it to work, one technician tried to help while another said it wasn't supported. Also, this item does not have wireless incorporated with it. If you'd like I can sell it to you at a deep discount on ebay. I waited too long to return it!
