What is the difference between this model and the DSL 2750B version?

Contrary to the other answer, THIS IS NOT A CABLE MODEM!!!!  Both the 2740 and the 2750 are ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line) modems which piggyback high speed digital data onto the analog audio signals on your land line from your phone company.  As such, you need a low pass filter at each phone so as not to hear the "hiss" of high speed data moving up and down stream as you try to talk on the phone.

The SHORT answer to your question is that the 2750B adds two features that the 2740 does not have:  push button WiFi setup, and a share stream port that you can plug an external hard drive into and then access ithat hard drive through any device on the network...wired or wireless.

Does the modem work with Verizon providers?

This modem works on all ADSL lines here in the USA and also in Europe. All you need to know how is to configure this modem/router for the ADSL account information and basic line requirements. There are not too many ADSL modems/routers for sale that you can purchase and this is one of the best. You can also hook up another router to it if you don't want to use the wireless router in this unit. I own one and use it everyday both here in the USA and in Europe. This unit is much better than the cheap and overpriced units the IP providers try to sell with their service.
