Question 1

I'm not clear: will this modem work with a separate router? Currently using a Rosewill router now alongside the default modem (Westell).

It works fine for me with a separate router (Asus RT-N66U). I replaced my Siemens modem from AT&T with this, and it took a little playing around with the settings to make AT&T accept it, but it works fine now.
The only trouble I've had with it is that I can't seem to get it to report my external IP address to the router for use with a dynamic DNS service (but that's only a problem if you're running a webserver or similar, and the modem has an option to do dyanmic DNS anyway). I think it's possible, but I haven't figured it out yet.
Also it's a little bit finicky when using the web interface (says 400 bad request a lot, refreshing the page fixes it temporarily). Supposedly it's fixed in a firmware update, but mine absolutely refuses to take the new firmware for some reason (insists it's corrupt, even though it's  not).

Is this modem compatible with ATT DSL Ethernet service?

I could not get it to work with my my AT&T DSL.  I tried to set it up with my MacBook Pro.  Unsucsessfull and poor support from the D-link guy (from some third world country) who tried to hack into my computer.  I hung up on him.  I would get cable internet and a different modem/router or go through AT&T (they have modems online) and use them for support

Can this replace my old Motorola 3360 dsl modem?

It should. You may have to adjust setting to accomidate your ISP's protocols like i did. If you need assistance with that just call the 800 d-link customer service number on the box, they will walk you through the process. You will need your vpi/vci numbers which you can get through your ISP.

Does this also come with the power adaptor?

As the last picture depicts, it comes with the modem, one RJ-45 ethernet cable, one RJ-11 which looks like a standard phone cable, and installation disk.  The only time you should be concerned is if you are buying something used.

how many devices can be run through the router?

To my knowledge there is not a specific limitation of number of devices that can connect to the internet through this modem. However, it is not a wireless router, and it only has one network port, which needs to either be connected directly to your PC, a router or a switch. Your router or switch will be the factor that determines how many devices you can have at any time connected through the DLink to the internet.

I have a Netgear wireless router connected to the DLink and run as many as 8 or 10 devices simultaneously from my home.

Is it compatible with CenturyLink ADSL?

I advise that you ask your CenturyLink provider if the D-Link DSL-520B is compatible with their network. I was not able to use this modem with our network because our provider requires an NDSL Modem whereas this is an ADSL modem. It may work.

Is this DOCSIS 3?

Even if it were, it couldn't handle the bandwidth of DOCSIS 3. I would said wih confidence that even if it were available on DSL, no this is not DOCSIS 3.

Initially, I advise that you ask your DSL provider if the D-Link DSL-520B is compatible with their network. I was not able to use this modem with our network because our provider requires an NDSL Modem whereas this is an ADSL modem.
