Question 1

I have one network/Ethernet line in my office.  I would like to essentially split that line in to two.  So my computer and printer can share the line.  Is the best product?

Hi Monica,
this will work just fine as long as that "one network/Ethernet line" coming into your office is coming from a router. The router's DHCP server delivers unique IP addresses to your devices and the switch forwards the information to the proper device(IP Address) on your network.

If their is no router on your network then I recommend purchasing a router instead of this switch. Most routers have at least 4- RJ45 connectors (network cable plugs) on them  so you can connect up to 4 devices to it and it will supply the IP Addresses for all your devices(PC's and Printers ).

So if you have a router already then this switch will work just fine on your network.

Does this switch have any wireless connections for tablets or cell phones, or do I need a different product for a small business network?

No, this does not have any wireless connection at all. I don't recommend this product at all as it dies after 4 months of use...

Where is the input from the modem?

this is a network switch, not a router.  A router would have an input from the Internet modem but a switch does not.  It is only for connecting devices on your internal network, not reaching the outside world. if you are looking for a device to connect your network to the Internet then you need to look for a router.  If you also need to connect several devices to the router, you can either look for a router that has several (typically 4) ethernet ports on it as well or connect a switch like this to the router so that you can plug all of your ethernet cables from your devices into the switch.

Does this product have slots on the bottom so it can be wall mounted?

The one I received did not so I had to use a cable tie to secure it to a board that I have secured to the wall. This of course allows it to move around a bit when trying to plug cables in.
