Can I connect my Comcast modem to this as input and then connect my laptops to this by cable to access the internet? Please let me know.

If all you want is connect 1 laptop you can just use modem: you don't need this switch.
If you are looking for multiple connections this is not a router! People use this for multiple connections in conjunction with a router! Google for difference between modern, router, switch & access point to get a overall understanding of network setup.

Does this unit have mounting brackets?

It does have two slots like picture frames; and screws can be rested inside these slots so that they can be mounted on a wall or somewhere.

it does not come with screws however.

As one reviewer said, does one machine not accepting gigabit network cause all the other connections non-gigabit connection?

I am going to connect this to a gigabit router but not all machines connected to this switch may not have gigabit capabilities.

Jim answered this well enough, but to repeat:
Each connection is independent in what speed it connects at, based on the NIC in that machine.  Communication will still be slower with machines using older NIC's because THEY can't send or receive any faster (limitation of those devices, not the switch).  Communication between gigabit devices will not be slowed by the presence of non-gigabit devices on the network.

It does say input is 120v 60hz or 240v 50hz, but you would need an adapter for the country your going to. It only comes with the U.S. plug.

a network bridge is in essence a 2 port switch. In an enterprise environment, a bridge is a smarter device that handles MAC address blocking and filtering between the two sides of the bridge.

No one really refers to a switch as a bridge for devices like this.

It has 8 Ethernet ports.  The power connection is on the left side as you look at the front.

the power line adapters are quite universal on any switch I've ever tried them on. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work.
