Fast, blows my old Synology NAS out of the water Super easy to setup Did I mention fast?
- Clean design for aesthetically-minded folks. - Fast and responsive (my router's NIC is the limiting factor, not the NAS). - A boatload (100+) of free, supporting "packages" to enhance your experience... from admin-managing s/w and antivirus programs to media, mail, RADIUS, and DNS servers, this NAS is supported like no other company out there! - It resides in my daughter's room--and I can control the indicator lights on the front to turn off during her bedtime... it's AWESOME! (Their s/w programmers thought of everything!) - Silent, quiet, and full speed fan settings (even full speed is not bad). - Access to adding extra RAM simply by pulling out drive bay #4. - 2x SSD slots on the bottom to create a cache for faster I/O transactions... HOWEVER, if you want to add those to the RAID, they must comply with Synology's approved/checked/verified SSD list. Not a big deal, you just need to plan for it. - Rubberized grommets (internal) and rubber feet (external) greatly reduce HDD vibrations. - You can't tell from the pictures here, but there is a small gap between each drive to help with airflow/cooling. Although, if you have large NAS-rated drives (16+ TB), the noise does seep through. - I really do wish I could give 6/5 eggs! :D
- (still) powerful CPU with hardware video processing - upgradeable RAM - SSD cache/storage pool option
This unit was plug and play. There is a wizard that asks you a few questions on startup (like RAID level you want, filesystem (EXT4 vs Btrfs) and away you go. The DSM interface is really good IMO. It offers SFTP. You can send email alerts via your Synology account. You dont need a service account. Easy to keep track of drive health; unexpected power outages etc. 5 bays is great. Im using 4 bays in a RAID 5 and a hot spare. Can adjust the LED brightness based on time of day. Can adjust when it beeps (startup etc.)
8 bays. Easy setup, check sum for data reliability, data scrubbing, and have any side hdd combined into a single Raid. dual disk redundancy.
- Well made - Nice little heatsink on the chip. - Fast ... really fast !
-TOS setup was easy -Networking configuration was not too hard for those who like to learn -Can support 4K plex content on my TV
Good Interface, stable product, great price, good online Video training, easy to setup for basic functions, easy to link to vie home network, TV connections. Quite and good power management.
I was able to replace 2 Raspberry Pi's and a repurposed older desktop with a single compact machine that is SO much easier to maintain. Why did I wait this long?
As simple as plug and play
Easy to set-up Easy to be used by any devices Easily support 6 users ( 4 iphones + 2 android + 5 window laptop + 2 macosx + 2 fire tv) backup and streaming)
Decent price for the hardware, sleek design, upgradable RAM, software updates are frequent, drive bays are solid, can control fan speed for the CPU
It just works. And in the computer world thats a big win. Runs as fast as a local hard drive.
-Stylish design -easy to access hard drives (no screws) -dual 2.5Gb ethernet ports -hard drives transfer at up to 300MB/s -NVMe slots -easy setup -RAM can be upgraded -HDMI port
Easy to setup - Hardware install was straight forward - Housing seems sturdy - Downloaded the PC app from TeraMasters Website and everything was sequential there after. - Using it for important storage - Setting up a RAID 0 was self explanatory.
-Easy to install and use. -Reasonably peppy processor allows less lag time when running lots of cameras in Surveillance Station
