I upgraded from a DS216j which is 8 years old now. I thought it was a good time to upgrade to the 224+ since Synology will force usage of Synology brand drives on new models. I wanted to stay with Synology because of the reliability and DSM ease of use. The migration was painless and I like the increased performance and additional memory option the 224+ has.
The synology software really shines. I'm happy I went with a 4-bay unit over a 2-bay unit for the capacity and RAID.
Easy setup. Web based interface works well, and very functional

Was very easy and seamless to expand my 718+ Disk Station
Was a breeze to install. Transfered everything from old nas to new one pretty quick. Works great so far.
This is like training wheels for a home network NAS
It just works. And in the computer world thats a big win. Runs as fast as a local hard drive.
Decent price for the hardware, sleek design, upgradable RAM, software updates are frequent, drive bays are solid, can control fan speed for the CPU
Easy to setup and configure
Great features for the price I got it at $750. I have an aging 1515+ and a home built Xpenology that needed rebuilding. The performance is wonderful. I was also able to get an aftermarket 10Gb network card working without issue. I use that for iSCSI for VM traffic in my home lab and it runs flawlessly. The shipping was the fastest I have ever witnessed. I assume it was direct from Synology and not from the Newegg warehouses which are typically not good these days.
