as a curious novice, product top noch with easy set up amd great community. makes my life much better from organisation point of view.
- Well packaged and worked perfectly - Easy to setup - Added some really nice WD 2TB Red Pros NAS drives - Joined to AD domain with no issue
Synology Easy setup Quiet Small form factor Bonded ethernet ports if needed
Awesome NAS for transcoding!! And storage no issues at all just what I needed.
I had a DS415+ since about 2014-2015 and it finally died on me, so I ordered the new DS1821+ and put my old drives in and it booted up with a migration wizard and was up and running in a few minutes.
- Well made - Nice little heatsink on the chip. - Fast ... really fast !
- Works well with a lot of hard drive brands, unlike a certain popular NAS manufacturer - Generous specifications; again, unlike a certain popular NAS manufacturer
Good Interface, stable product, great price, good online Video training, easy to setup for basic functions, easy to link to vie home network, TV connections. Quite and good power management.
I was able to replace 2 Raspberry Pi's and a repurposed older desktop with a single compact machine that is SO much easier to maintain. Why did I wait this long?
Easy to set-up Easy to be used by any devices Easily support 6 users ( 4 iphones + 2 android + 5 window laptop + 2 macosx + 2 fire tv) backup and streaming)
Decent price for the hardware, sleek design, upgradable RAM, software updates are frequent, drive bays are solid, can control fan speed for the CPU
It just works. And in the computer world thats a big win. Runs as fast as a local hard drive.
Very fast with link doubling. Easy to replace two of SATA 2.5/3.5" disks. Very convenient setup with four M2 NVMe memories. Multiple functionality and apps. Fast USB 3 connections for additional external disks. Very fast internal copy/move operations.
This is my second DS1621+ (backs up my first) and they work really well. I only use them to backup my PC files from 6 active computers in my household, so I'm not really hammering the drives with media server or plex server functions. For me the Synology NAS's are the bext. I'm also running 4 Drobos as a third backup and, whilst the drobos are much simpler to setup, I much prefer the Synologies.
small size big power! easy to set up easy to use!
DDR5 gives on-die error correction Extra bays give cache options Compatible RAM upgrades TrueNAS compatibility
