Very High Quality Surge Protector

CyberPower 890 6 feet 4 Transformer Spaced 4 Non-Transformer Spaced Outlets 2800 Joules Power Surge Protector
CyberPower 890 6 feet 4 Transformer Spaced 4 Non-Transformer Spaced Outlets 2800 Joules Power Surge Protector

Pros: The power cable from the surge protector is six feet long and the plug is at a right angle. This product comes with protection for coax, satellite, telephone, and ethernet wires. The wires that come with the surge protector are of good quality. I can't tell a difference in network speed with the supplied ethernet cable. The outlets have gray U-shaped covers which you can slide over unused outlets. Furthermore, the coolest part about this product is that it is designed to permanently shutdown (inoperable after the event) in the case of an energy spike over 2.8 kJ. No surge protector can protect you from the billions of joules of energy from a lightning strike, but a shutdown feature can attempt to stop the surge from large energy spikes. This feature is fairly standard, but lower quality surge suppressors may not have this ability. The 2.8 kJ surge protection is good for most surges you will encounter.

Cons: The first time you plug a power cable into an outlet, you have to apply a large amount of force in order to get it completely into the outlet. You will hear something like a snap the first time you plug into an outlet, then after that first time there will be significantly less resistance to you plugging into an outlet.

Overall Review: Electrical surges CAN go through coaxial, telephone, and ethernet cables. It really isn't much more money to get the protection you should have. This product is an excellent investment and I highly recommend it for people looking to protect their computer hardware. Do your research before you settle for a lower quality surge suppressor. Most surges don't destroy hardware instantly - they wear them down over time. The next time your motherboard dies, it may not be the manufacturers fault, but instead your surge protector (or lack thereof) which allowed the hardware to get damaged.

Not Perfect But Still Awesome

palm TX PDA Intel ARM-based processor 312 MHz 320 x 480 TFT IrDA Bluetooth WirelessLAN
palm TX PDA Intel ARM-based processor 312 MHz 320 x 480 TFT IrDA Bluetooth WirelessLAN

Pros: (1) Turns on instantly, (2) The sync program doubles as a backup system, so I no longer need to keep my calendar/contacts/tasks/memos online - if my PDA dies, all the info is on my hard drive - and if my hard drive dies, all the info is on my PDA. Awesome. (3) Relatively big screen. (4) The wi-fi works great. (5) If this is your first PDA and you're a geek/tech guy/girl, this gadget WILL change your life. And with #2 above, you can feel safe moving everything about your life into this PDA, as it's all backed up!

Cons: I thought I could watch movies on here (purchased a 2 GB card to go with it), but it takes literally HOURS to transfer anything over 25 MB to this thing. ALSO NOTE: Research the email capabilities before you buy! The TX does NOT support Gmail because it does not support SMTP over SSL. You will be able to get and read email, but you won't be able to send email through Gmail. This should be disappointing to you, because Gmail is one of the few reliable free POP email services (and you will need POP to get email on the TX).

Overall Review: The sync program, while really helpful, does have some minor drawbacks. Others have mentioned crashing and this is true. With a little bit of troubleshooting and a brain you should be able to fix the crashing if it starts to occur. The reason why I gave this 3 eggs is because this TX has been out for quite a while and they haven't fixed any of this stuff, which is incredibly disappointing. Also, buy a case for this thing (they sell the rhino skin here on Newegg), it will be a good investment.

Fast, works the first time, and compatible with MSI 970A-G46 motherboard

CORSAIR Vengeance LP 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model CML8GX3M2A1600C9
CORSAIR Vengeance LP 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Low Profile Desktop Memory Model CML8GX3M2A1600C9

Pros: Both sticks work perfectly and are fully compatible with my motherboard (MSI 970A-G46). I have noticed a significant difference in performance between my previous, slower 4 GB of RAM and these two sticks (faster and 8 GB).

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I had been using the same 2x2 GB sticks of RAM from a different manufacturer since 2010. (Without naming names, it's a "skilled" manufacturer and loves its "Gs".) I tried to upgrade with identical sticks to get to 8 GB, and they sent me one or more defective sticks. And not once, but twice (after I gave them a second chance). That manufacturer then, after sending me defective sticks twice, told me it was my fault and that I needed to update my BIOS. My BIOS is fully up-to-date and I know what I'm doing; I've been building PCs for 12 years. After that experience, I decided to boycott that manufacturer and try a different manufacturer. After research, I decided to take my chance with Corsair and this model of RAM. Sure enough, they sent me two sticks that work perfectly. I have had great experiences with Corsair before, but this was my first time buying Corsair memory. I am perfectly satisfied, and my future memory purchases will be from Corsair; I urge others to do so as well.

Great price, works great

Compucessory Air Duster Cleaner, Moisture-Free/Ozone Safe, 10.00 oz., 2/Pack
Compucessory Air Duster Cleaner, Moisture-Free/Ozone Safe, 10.00 oz., 2/Pack

Pros: (1) Half the price of what my local brick-and-mortar store wanted; (2) Typical power expected from a can of compressed air; (3) Arrived in literally 1 day when I ordered free shipping and expected it to take a week for shipping.

Cons: None.

Two DOA Sticks

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL8D-4GBHK

Pros: See other thoughts below. My 2010 purchase resulted in two sticks that have worked flawlessly.

Cons: See other thoughts below. My 2014 purchase resulted in two DOA sticks.

Overall Review: I purchased this exact pair of dual-channel memory in 2010 and it has worked flawlessly. Recently, in 2014, I wanted to expand my mid-range gaming rig from 4 GB to 8 GB of RAM, so I figured the most cost-effective way to do that would be to simply buy two more sticks of the same model. I did that. I bought two more sticks, and they arrived DOA. Both sticks. I have been building PCs for 11 years, and I have been fortunate enough to have never received anything DOA. I've had things fail after 1-3+ years, but never DOA. G Skill wanted to be my first, apparently. I have no idea what its "success" rate is with memory that makes it out of its factory, but I will tell you this: no customer should ever receive anything DOA. Aside from the fact that it may violate federal and most state consumer warranty laws, and the contracts between you, the seller and the manufacturer, it is simply a poor, poor business practice. I wanted my RAM on a specific date, and for a specific price. Instead, I will now receive my replacement RAM well after the time in which I wanted it (my vacation), for at least $7.29 more than the amount that I expected to pay, and for an added 3+ hours of my time spent testing the RAM, testing the RAM again, filling out an RMA form, going to the post office, and waiting in line at the post office. All because the manufacturer neglected to ensure that all the RAM that gets out of its factory to its distributors and sellers functions properly, or at a minimum, is not DOA. Grade: 5 stars for the 2010 RAM; 0 stars for the 2014 RAM. Averaged, and rounded down because both sticks were DOA = 2 stars. Note: Newegg has always been a superb seller and I will remain loyal to Newegg, but I will never buy from G Skill again because one DOA is too many. I suggest you do the same.

Great External Wireless Adapter

TRENDnet TEW-424UB Wireless G Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates
TRENDnet TEW-424UB Wireless G Adapter IEEE 802.11b/g USB 2.0 Up to 54Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: Provides wireless access for my laptop after my internal wireless adapter stopped functioning regularly. Downloaded the driver mentioned by other reviewers (RTL8187B), disabled internal wireless adapter, installed driver, plugged in adapter and it worked immediately. Driver provides a new system tray icon + software which you can use to replace the default windows software for connecting to a wireless network if you prefer it. I use it because it provides a better interface and functionality than what I get in Vista.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: The flip cover came off easily -- it's useless if you're using this as a permanent replacement for your old wireless adapter.
