Good discs, horrible packing

Verbatim 4.7 GB 16X DVD-R 100 Packs Spindle Disc Model 95102
Verbatim 4.7 GB 16X DVD-R 100 Packs Spindle Disc Model 95102

Pros: Discs are great, high quality discs that burn fine in any decent burner with decent firmware.

Cons: Not a con against the discs, but against Newegg. Newegg has become greatly lacking in packing the items for shipping, just to save a little money. Instead of using the foam popcorn that they used to always use, they now only use crumpled brown paper. For most items, it would be fine, but for something heavy like a box of discs, it's completely unreasonable and caused my bottom part of the spindle to crack and break. This is unacceptable and newegg needs to change this NOW! This is the second time, recently that I've had problems because of cheap packing from Newegg and I'm about to my limit. One more time and Newegg will never see me as a customer again.

Good, quality Wireless

Zonet ZEW1642D Wireless Adapter w/Low-Profile Bracket IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 PCI Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates
Zonet ZEW1642D Wireless Adapter w/Low-Profile Bracket IEEE 802.11b/g, IEEE 802.11n Draft 2.0 PCI Up to 300Mbps Wireless Data Rates

Pros: This is being used through a brick wall and a floor and the signal is very strong. I've had no issues at all with it, using WPA AES using Wireless N. I did opt to use the ra-link firware that the chipset uses instead of Zonet's, and it works beautifully.

Cons: None at all.

Overall Review: Using Windows 7 Wireless, not the one with the drivers.

Very nice

LG WiFi Built-in Blu-ray Player BD570
LG WiFi Built-in Blu-ray Player BD570

Pros: Very nice player that can handle everything from Divx & Divx HD AVI's to MKV and MP4. It took a while to find a time when the LG servers weren't overloaded to update the firmware, but once I tried during the night, it worked just fine. I haven't tested actual Blu-Ray discs on it yet, but I've tried virtually everything else including Netflix, Youtube, and even an AVCHD and it's perfect.

Cons: After updating firmware, Netflix takes a LOT longer to start up, but once it does, it works great. Also, I've noticed that normal Divx avi's are quite a bit more pixellated than they were on my older Phillips Divx DVD player, but the higher quality ones look just the way they should.

High quality, powerful, yet reasonably priced

ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AM3 AMD 785G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard
ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO AM3 AMD 785G HDMI ATX AMD Motherboard

Pros: Very stable motherboard with a plethora of overclocking options in the BIOS. ACC works great for unlocking disabled cpu cores and the onboard HD4200 with sideport memory is far faster than most other onboard video and I've been able to push the core of the IGP up to 750MHz with no issues at all . I've been running UT3 with moderately high settings, smooth as silk, along with a 720 X3 BE with the 4th core unlocked.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Don't hesitate to get this mainboard. It's a good, stable foundation for a nice AM3 rig.

Fast, stable RAM

HyperX 2GB DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3/2G
HyperX 2GB DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model KHX1600C9D3/2G

Pros: Fast, stable RAM that has a high compatibility rate with most motherboards. When you don't have an unlocked multiplier on your processor and you have to raise the FSB to overclock, 1600 is much more preferable than running 1333 and having to underclock it a lot.

Cons: Timings aren't super tight, but then again, the voltage is reasonable as well and the speed more than makes up for it. When you check benchmarks, the 1600 DDR3 ends up being faster than running 1333 at tightened latency. Most motherboards won't run it initally at full speed, but that's the motherboard's fault and not the RAM. Just manually set the clock speed in the BIOS and all will be well.

Massively Powerful

AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition - Phenom II X3 Heka Triple-Core 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 95W Processor - HDZ720WFK3DGI
AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition - Phenom II X3 Heka Triple-Core 2.8 GHz Socket AM3 95W Processor - HDZ720WFK3DGI

Pros: I knew when I ordered the 720 that there was a high probability of unlocking the 4th core. The longer that a processor model is produced, the better they get at it, and it's more likely that they will have to disable a perfectly good quad core. Hence the reason why AMD is stopping production of this model...it's costing them too much money. In any case, I was able to use ACC on a 785G motherboard to unlock the 4th core. I first tried 3.0GHz, then 3.2GHz, both Prime95 stable with all 4 cores using a 120mm fan cooler. I'm pretty sure I could push it even farther but as lightning fast as the baby runs (at no more than 45 Celcius with all 4 cores maxed out), I'd rather keep it at a safe level so that I can guarantee the processor lasting a long time. I suggest to anybody to get it while you can. It's a slight gamble, but even at 3 cores, it's a massively powerful cpu.

Cons: None at all.
