Best DVD Media Available
Pros: this is the best DVD media by far, I have used over 2000 of these. Have used many in the past like Son*, nothing gives better results. These discs have a manf code of MCC-004-00 which are Mitsubishi Chemical Corp., the best dvd media maker in existence!. I will not buy anything not made from MCC. I have had only maybe 5 burns out of 2000, which was prolly my error. Buy these why they are still available, cause Verbatim has switched to Life series, (made in china, taiwan) garbage----- don't buy!
Cons: NONE! Absolutley NONE! The BEST DVD Media around!
stay away for now
Pros: cost... USED to work great!
Cons: media is now garbage for some reason
Overall Review: I have used over 200 of these with no problems. Now, back in Feb. 2012 I bought 250 more. 1st spindle worked fine, then the dreaded failed to write:invalid write address. I tried all 4 remaining spindles, with random discs per pack.... all the same. I tried updating with the newest firmare that just came out for sony bwu-500s 1.66 still no luck. Disc id is Philip-R04-000 which according to Sony is compatable. My guess is these are being made in some other country now without strict quality control standards. Tried contacting VinPower, but still no answer! (Guess they didn't like my "blunt" thoughts on the recent quality of these. Purchased a new burner, Pioneer, not Sony, and will try again. Burner not here yet, will be on 3/28/12. Will update with outcome. Time being..... I'd stay away from these until VinPower solves their quality control issues. Word spreads fast on the net VinPower, watch out!
DON'T be fooled! Rebranded
Cons: Not TRUE VinPower Optical Quantum Brand
Overall Review: I really do have to hate on Optical Quantum Brand discs, however, these are produced by Optodisc standards not VinPower Digital standards. When I received these from Newegg, I noticed the label on the spindle stated "Manufactured By Optodisc". I have used Optical Quantum for a long time now and never had a problem them. I have made the mistake of using Optodisc in the past to save money, big mistake. I went to VinPower's website to check out why the rebranded discs, and they are manufacturing Optodisc to the same standard as Optodisc was when they were still in business. VinPower still makes TRUE Optical Quantum discs as well. I compared the visual aspects of the 2 two discs side by side and clearly see a big difference in the color of the dye used. Optical Quantum discs have a dye that is a lot darker than Optodiscs. I believe Newegg should be alerting customers as to what they are really getting which is Optodisc NOT Optical Quantum. With this new product line by VinPower Digital, there should be a CLEAR description on all Optical Quantum products as the what manufacturer they are actually going to receive. Until this happens, BYER BEWARE! The following information was taken directly from VinPower Digital's website: "OPTODISC BD-R was one of the first recordable Blu-ray Medias on the market. As an early adopter of the Blu-ray format, OPTODISC has always had an excellent compatibility with a wide range of Blu-ray recording drives. Vinpower has continued that tradition in manufacturing the OPTODISC BD-R media utilizing the same Japanese developed formula as the original discs for the best performance and compatibility. When you’re looking for quality BD-R media at a great price point, the OPTODISC line of BD-R media is your best bet."
