Hitachi Power Tools DS18DVF3 18 Volt Cordless Driver Drill Kit with Flashlight and Bit Set
Hitachi Power Tools DS18DVF3 18 Volt Cordless Driver Drill Kit with Flashlight and Bit Set

Pros: batteries work well, system is backwards compatible with nimh, built quality, output pretty good. 1/2" drive. Light weight with the 1.5ah batteries.

Cons: 1.5ah battery work time.

Overall Review: I have the 1/2" hammerdrill version which is basically the same. My old boss used the 3/8" version nimh for years as an electrician as his only portable. Many brands do not stay cross compatible with battery types. Hitachi does and they are awesome for it. They make 3ah batteries, i would suggest them for contractors. My drill hammered itself apart eventually but it just has that much power and i really abused it for about 2 years straight drilling through studs with paddle bits and used a huge 18" long bosch hammer drill bit to drill through concrete walls. I would put tool brands in this order as I know them: panasonic>bosch>hitachi>makita. I've owned many power tools. Many battery types and this one holds up. Extra batteries are a must if you use them hard. For light work it will last all day and li-ion holds a charge for a long time without self discharge. Heat is an issue. Ideally you don't want li-ions sitting in a hot vehicle because it will permanently damage them.

dead pixels everyone? love and hate it.

ASUS ProArt Series PA246Q Black 24.1" 6ms P-IPS Height/Swivel/Pivot Adjustable LCD Monitor w/2 USB hub, Card Reader & Display port 400cd/m2 50000:1 DCR
ASUS ProArt Series PA246Q Black 24.1" 6ms P-IPS Height/Swivel/Pivot Adjustable LCD Monitor w/2 USB hub, Card Reader & Display port 400cd/m2 50000:1 DCR

Pros: great monitor, colors, brightness, size

Cons: are you kidding me? rma #1 bright green dot bottom center screen... can not be tollerated. RMA #2 bright red dot center screen, faded somewhat within a couple days but I still know its there and paid too much for this. 3rd monitor has 3 almost invisible stuck pixels (show dull red from one side and dull green from right ) but now I'm staring at the thing like a hawk. Really absurd QC. Started looking for a different monitor.

Overall Review: There are no other choices, The dell equivalent has horrible reviews with an even worse, in my opinion, QC problem. If you want an IPS monitor maybe the smaller screens have less QC trouble? Once you have this monitor you hate giving it back... its so big and pretty and bright, and disgusting. Don't get suckered... stay away.

blues so retro

Case Logic LNEO-10 Carrying Case (Sleeve) for 10.2' Netbook - Blue
Case Logic LNEO-10 Carrying Case (Sleeve) for 10.2' Netbook - Blue

Pros: Blue. Case logic branded. Gets the job done. 1/2 the price with the current promo for $6.

Cons: Cheezburgers?

Overall Review: I'm going to use this sleeve inside another case logic case (KLC-13)... as extra padding. Can't imagine it'll take much abuse. Should hold up well. I've had the case logic KLC -13 for years and it's my favorite for traveling, It's lasted me from my first asus eeepc through acer iconia tab w500 to google nexus 10 and 7. Nicer than some of case logic's newer stuff, and it accomodates a 10" tablet and a 10" notebook plus cables and a bluetooth keyboard and mouse. I picked up a couple of these sleeves to keep everything safe while in storage and travel.

post code 55

BIOSTAR TZ77XE3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
BIOSTAR TZ77XE3 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

Pros: looks nice, system and cpu fans spin, nice red number '55' to look at.

Cons: DOA, post code 55. Fans spin, ordering a DIFFERENT motherboard.

Overall Review: Remember when things used to work the first time you flipped the switch? Me neither. Try, try again.

works well at burning blu rays

ASUS Black 12X Blu-ray Burner SATA BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS
ASUS Black 12X Blu-ray Burner SATA BW-12B1ST/BLK/G/AS

Pros: Price, quality, burns blu-ray disks bd-r, bd-re, bd-dl, bd-re dl up to 50gb.

Cons: Slow seek, takes forever to read regular dvds, old usb2.0 burner is much faster. Blu-rays, bd-r rather, take 30 minutes to burn. Can't imagine how long other disk types other than bd-r take to burn with this drive. Just too long, especially if you are wanting to verify disks. I hate optical disks, this one is fine for writing all those that will stack up and never get looked at again or to be used shuffling information from other disk drives or one system to another.

Overall Review: quality bd-r disks can be had for about $1 each now, bd-re and bd-dl/bd-re dl are all about 10-15 bucks each. New blu ray quad layer is already out which this drive does not burn. Still good for what is currently cost effective which is 25gb bd-r storage. Needs drivers installed during a windows installation to work for installing windows yet works fine without special drivers once windows is installed (i used an external dvd burner to install windows so i didn't have to install drivers)
